Disabled alarms not really disabled? Does it happen a lot?

Source: https://youtu.be/WfywML4tSRI

I was doing a power restoration mission and was hunting down some data.
I disabled the alarms (just because I could) and went on searching for data ports...

When I found one with some illegal data (00:20) the alarms sounded even though they were already disabled (1:01).
Does this happen a lot?

Fortunately, it didn't matter in this mission but if I was to engage in illegal downloads and disabling alarms didn't work in a fully occupied settlement it would be a kick in the thursters...

I've seen it happen lately. I've been doing restore missions, though, so when it happens, I haven't had to worry about aggro. I think every time I saw it happen was in one particular HAB layout.

Edit: Having actually watched the video now, yes, this HAB layout is the one that I've seen sounding alarms regardless of the alarms being disabled.

The obvious question: Are you sure you disabled the alarms? The panels are a bit angle-sensitive, and if you rushed it you might just have missed it? I almost did that a few times. Other than that, so far every time I disabled the alarms (and the alarm panel turned ted and said "off") they stayed off. Did not encounter this issue yet.

Off topic: Wow, your video looks fisheyed. Do people really play like that, or is that distortion from playing on an ultrawide screen?

Alarms were definitely disabled as you can see at the end.
I even had the audio cue "alarms disabled" when interacting with the panel earlier.

Not sure about the fisheye effect - it does look very unnatural in the small video player but more normal in fullscreen. At least to me.

Cool, that is actually very helpful.
I haven't encountered this issue yet so I wanted to know how common it was.

So the issue affecting only one type of settlement type might be it.
At least now I know there is yet another thing I should avoid in ED - illegal downloads in this HAB layout. Man, the list grows ever longer...

Thanks for the input, much appreciated.

Happens to me all the time with data download. It is as if the visuals are not respecting the disabled state, but at least the guards do. I.e. even though the alarm sounds during the download (for me it stops as soon as download is done), nobody gives a dime.

okay, watched it, this time to the end, to see the hab layout. There must be other factors, because I have been in that layout and not yet had this issue.

Good to know that the guards react in the proper manner even if the visuals don't.

maybe it's that. Those missions seem to be bugged anyway, with settlements already powered up when you turn up, right?
Yep, they are buggy. And that's what I'm trying to find out... how common this issue is and whether there are some other factors that can influence it.

I learned how to avoid missions to settlements that are already powered up but this seems to be yet another thing to look out for. At this rate there will be more things to avoid than to actually do :)

I see. I wouldn't mind if it was only a visual/audio bug. As long as guards don't react.
I have yet to find this bug in a occupied settlement. Must. Test. More.

Thanks!

I only have it in occupied settlements, as I only do "legal" (chuckles) massacre missions there. I tried missions in thargoid space, but that stuff was totally bugged for me, so I stopped doing that. I don't think that staff is turning the alarm back on, because I usually kill everybody in the building - that is housing the alarm console - right after deactivation, and I also keep the authorization (for door access) up. They should have no opportunity to re-enable.

It is also very regular. I suspect that it has something to do with the location of the data-port holding the "secured" data item. If it is in another building separate from the alarm console, it is almost guaranteed to happen.

That said, for me it is only visual, no effect on game-play whatsoever.
