disapearing enemies

ne moment i was attacking a enemy ship inside the asteroid belt ,just to have him magicly disappear right in front of me (hiperdrive or supercruise with all the close mass??) , 5 seconds later he pops up behind me and i get blasted to shreds,is their some kind of klingon cloacking device that i do not know of in elite dangerous?!. (this was a human opponent btw). :S:S

Sounds like he popped behind an asteroid, went silent running then blasted you when you flew past.

That is possible. But "disappear" can mean a few things. Did they really disappear. If it was a player they could have logged off. Or it could have been a jumpout but then that shouldn't have been possible actually in a belt. Silent running seems like a good possibility if they simply disappeared from the radar. It may not have even been the same ship of course.

Super Cruise is currently possible when other ships are near, it just takes ages to charge.

I think the vanishing ship is a placeholder for some kind of effect

I think when they log off you get the hyperspace effect (the woosh noise and a small flash)

If they vanished completely and then appeared again it sounds more like some kind of lag/network bug

True, but not while in the middle of an asteroid belt I think. You would need to travel away from this and then just suffer the penalty of nearby ship-sized masses.
