Discovery Scanner sound byte

It's the sound from Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, when Jango Fett drops a Seismic Charge in front of Obi Wan's ship in the asteroid field. I'm amazed no-one has noticed this!

I think the technical name for that weapon is "Mk5 Van-Halen Bomb"

Speaking of sounds, the Beta of 1.1 had some lovely sounds for the station elevators; they were an SFX from Blake's 7 - I think the 'force wall' sound.

The current 'missile lock' sound is the 'Teleport Bracelet Comms Chirp' from B7 as well.

Standard by 12!

Has anyone extracted the discovery scanner sound into a separate file?

I've decided that I really want to hear it every time I get a text message on my phone.

EDIT: I did it myself!
So I realised while I wasn't entirely sure how to extract the sound byte from the game files, it's not too hard to isolate some sounds in elite. (i.e. I went to the middle of nowhere, powered down any noise making systems, sat still, and did the scanner while recording).

So without further ado:

Scanner with buildup and pulse.

Scanner with just pulse.

This is the best. Thanks for sharing, I think I'll update my text message sound similarly.

Have some rep!

Hey

A bit off topic, but do you know how or where I can get hold of the original Frontier: Elite 2 intro music as a ringtone? I've been searching the net, but only found malware... :(
