Future updates..
Robots are expensive.Although ground crew would be aesthetically pleasing, it also seems kind of anachronistic that people rather than robots would still be used in such jobs.
Very easy to control, you can't lift off as long as there are ground crew on the pad.The problem is, what happens when they are halfway out and you undock. Those thrusters are quite powerful and toasty.
The ground crew could all just be imperial slaves... In this job, the'll just be one time use. We can get more. The problem is, what happens when they are halfway out and you undock. Those thrusters are quite powerful and toasty.
The most important thing to me is, I don't see the "ground crew" in either of those screenshots doing any actual, um, "crewing". They're just standing around. I don't care how strong their unions are, or how roboticized the actual labour has become - if I've got a "ground crew" that's allegedly tending to my ship, I want to see some action! Guys in yellow vests, running around attaching fuel lines and securing cargo ramps and whatnot. Quarantine officers inspecting the landing gear for alien infestation. That big crane-like doohickey that's sitting there on every landing pad, I want to see it moving around on those rails, lining up with my cargo bay ready to load and unload stuff.
