Disproportionate crime response

The new C&P system is a confusing and/or buggy mess.

But we can’t have an honest conversation about it without forumdads going “hurr durr don’t commit crimes then!” And “Omg griefers!”.

Seriously, getting a 200 cr bounty locking the player out of the system is just stupid, regardless of reason.

Just simplify it by making all crimes fines. You get locked out of stations at 2500 in fines, and it turns into a bounty at 10,000. Still punishes crimes, but not nearly so punishing for minor infractions.

While the old Crime and Punishment system was flawed, this new one is complete garbage. Frontier listened too hard to the crybabies getting ganked who refused to even learn standard piloting (boost at attack, high wake away) and instead screamed for changes. Now the changes are in and affect everyone, even those who aren't trying to do anything criminal. So good job whiners, you got your new safety net instead of staying in Mobius or Solo, only now that safety net is also heavily penalizing innocent players because everything is a pathetic mess with the new system.

Cheap bounties locking players out due to a misfire, overly powerful ATR ships attacking players legitimately trying to pirate other players, and super uber engineered ships still able to get away or fight back against blatantly overpowered ATR ships (I am saying that right, ATR right? I've not yet seen one in-game).

This new system is disgusting, they should have polished and came up with something better.

Actually what they are complaining about is the disproportionate responses to minor infractions. See this thread for details. But don't let reality mess with your version of events. You sound like an expert on the criminal aspects of gameplay in Elite. What's your in game name?

You're the one that said criminals go mostly unaffected, I was responding to that. Nothing the OP talked about the cops responding to is new, the old system also had the cops lighting you up when you became wanted for an assault charge. The only difference with that in the new system is hopping to an IF in the wanted ship to clear it. As for my in-game name, look to the left, just above where the small green dots are.

To be honest I find it funny and odd an insurance company would continue to provide insurance for a ship and commander which continues to create a loss for them by destroying other ships they insure.

In other words, if the insurance company were to revoke insurance on those who commit a murder, that person would have higher stakes to loose and would have to make a more reasonable and realistic choice.

That might also actually give us something to sink our billions of credits into.

I never understood the logic behind the whole "hot ship" thing, it dosnt matter how much I read about it, and going on the OPs experaince it reads more like a lot of steaming hot pile of biowaste.

And there is always those people who can do no wrong, walk the path higher than anyone else and seem to think thier bio dont stink or stick or that matter.

The fact it looks like the OP fell foul to the SLF bug seems to have been missed by those who think others are playing the game wrong., and the fact the OP was more about the hoops and utter inane logic of the cost occured due to a 200 fine. But I gave up trying to work out FDs logic in most things some time back.

And does that means that gankers can simply outfit a whole ganking ship fleet and therefore continue their slaughter in clean ship (with waiting time notoriety get to 0) ?

Hot ship concept is good but bounty should remain to Cmdr identity.
That doesn't make any sense. If they switch to a clean ship, how can they "continue their slaughter" without that ship becoming hot too? Also, notoriety will only decrease by 1 for every 2 hours you're not murdering stuff. Notoriety is connected to the player not the ship. And ships remain hot even if your notoriety resets.

I must admit, it is a bit of an offbeat idea and not what I was expecting from FDev. From my understanding, the hot ship idea is partly to circumvent the old switching to sidewinder and suiciding exploit. The new system does seem a bit overly convoluted.

KWS nerf and as a result bounties nerfed in general and instead of paying off a bounty in system I have to track down interstellar Factors to clear a bounty for a nicked ship.

Rated: Grade A For wasting more of my time FD, thanks for nothing.
