Newcomer / Intro Distance from Station when Turning off Super Cruise

I've noticed that most of the times when I approach a station I want to dock at, I get a message that I can disengage SC at less than 1 Mn. However sometimes as I approach I get the message to safely disengage at 4.. 5.. even 7 mn kilometers. Is there something that controls this?

Yes, the distance from the nearest stellar body. If it is a target in deep space or in orbit but sufficiently far away form the planet (a couple dozen light seconds) the safe disengage distance raises and you can drop sooner.

(btw. the symbol is Mm - Megameter - million meters as opposed to km - kilometer - thousand meters. Sorry if I seem nitpicky, but your "Mn kilometer" (Mega nautical kilometer?) made me chuckle. :) )

Sorry if I seem nitpicky but the word is 'metre'.
It's a standard SI unit.

I know Americans spell it differently. But they can't spell lots of things. :)

I'm not an American, I just speak the language of the internet, which is a dumbed-down American English. But this being a proper English forum, I will pay attention to details, next time. :p

Since we are into nit-picking...

Not stellar body but astronomical body - the disengage distance is determined by the strength of the local gravitational field i.e. the body which the station is orbiting or the nearest body in the case of POIs - the weaker the field the larger the safe to disengage distance.

(I know you are aware of this Chris, I'm just trying to give clarity for anyone else.)

My gas meter measures in cubic metres. ;)

Meter or Metre .. who cares .. we, here in Czech, spell it as METR ;)

TW

As far as nitpicking is concerned, the word "Czech" is an adjective. It is not the short version of our country's name.:p

The Czech Republic or Czechia would be the correct variants of her name.

You're gonna argue with a Czech about this? :p
Plus it isn't correct, either. Czechia is only a part of Czech Republic, afaik. ;)

(dear lord, I have created a monster by my original jocose nit pick)

Which part of "our country's name" had I not written clearly enough?:p

As for Czech Republic x Czechia, let us see what the United Nations have to say about those: https://unterm.un.org/UNTERM/Display/Record/UNHQ/NA/4275087d-4018-4082-899d-95f37efeda65 ;)

The Internet may not always be a reliable source though, especially if one is not entirely certain how to spell a country's name for Google search, as an unknown government employee in Pakistan would know by now:

"Czech flag" or "check flag", who cares, eh?[wacky]

And sorry for the off-topic.
