Exploration In Heaven

An ED explorer goes to his priest and asks him: Father, can I explore in Heaven?
Priest: I don't know my son, but I'll find out, come back tomorrow.

Next day the ED explorer comes back and asks the priest: Father, can I explore in Heaven?
Priest: I have good news and bad news, my son. You can explore in Heaven, bad news is you have a route plotted and scheduled for tomorrow.

Nice one, but i'm sure, some of our explorers wouldn't call these "bad news" bad news ^^

I've been back to the bubble two times now. Second time was because of an accident. I buckyballed it there and back twice. That made me ultra cautious and I made it to BP with 98% because I once crashed into some rings when pulling away from a gas giant. Yeah it would have been nice to have got there with 100%, but I did not do it for other people's respect, or for the palladium, but to see what I could do. I wasn't even really expecting to make it at all when I started.

If I had got hit by the SRV bug then yes I would have asked to be transported back and I would also have sold my data because the thought of losing it all really worries me. But I also tried avoiding that happening and whenever my integrity reached 97%, sometimes even 98% I would repair my SRV.

It is after all just a game. You have to play it for your own satisfaction and enjoyment and make your own goals, especially with an open ended game like Elite.

I do get the issue with selling exploration data before everyone else, but I largely took my own route and tried to avoid scanning anything that anyone else had. This is a bit more difficult though at Beagle's Point because we're all heading to the same place and there are a few systems that I have discovered and I really want to get my name on. So I'm going to leave BP either tonight or tomorrow and rush back.

Here is my latest and greatest earth like world. It's been a while since I posted but I still been truckin along. Whats all this teleportation talk??? Apparently I'm way out of the loop.

Before the last patch there was an issue/bug with SRVs exploding with very low speed collisions. Support can't directly replace an srv so they were teleporting ppl back to the bubble so they could buy new SRVs and then sending them back to their original positions. While cmdrs were in the bubble it was perfectly possible to refit/repaint/repair and/or sell exploration data.

Oh and have some rep for the superb Earth-like :)

Am I the only one wondering what surprise Ed has in store for us at Beagle point?

What was the name of that station that used to jump around (Jaques station?), it would be great if we all arrived at bp to find a station waiting :D

Indeed. He must still be in standby mode in Gliese 1269 (has been since 1.2?)

Will be slightly disappointing if the surprise is Ed...

Well, he said "treat", not "surprise", so I'm guessing tea and crumpets.

Vicious rumours!

There is no teleportation anymore - SRV's are being reconstructed by nanobots in your hold. Destroy one and the bots build you a new one, saving frowned upon trips back to civilization.

Nothing more to see here.... teleport along now.

If you want to really feel like you are away from the galaxy though, start using up all your jumponium going on further from Beagle's Point and know that you have only exactly enough to get back. One mistake like choosing the wrong system to jump to, or choosing premium instead of standard and you get stranded out there! Looking at the galaxy map and seeing one faint blue line connecting you to the only other system via a premium jump is an odd experience.

Given that Beagle Point is a green system, you could grab quite a few premium jumps before you headed out. I wonder who can get the furthest?

Jumped today to les enfants terribles system (in game: HYPUMAEA PN-T E3-2 )

Was prepared for the worst, with my finger on the heat sinks.
Wasn't that dangerous arriving angle though..
