[Distant Worlds] Join the FGE Exploration Wings

I am happy to sign up for the Sag-Car Expedition - 4,000 light years is doable. It will all depend on how soon I can finish the Trans-Polar Expedition here at BP2. I had projected a 90-day travel time but if you have a launch window before that (you probably do!) then I can catch-up by bucky-balling out to you.

I take it you mean 5,000 ly per week.

Saturday evening times -- Going on in game time and date, for example I will add a list below so we can sort it out better for you.

Saturday 11th June --In game time -- 10:58

Saturday 11th June -- Current UK time -- 11:58

The normal meet up time and day would be

Saturday 11th June -- In game time -- 19:00

The above is just an example to get a regular meet up time.

Add your own times relieve to Saturday 11th June - In game time - 10:58

Lol. Nope....pretty much meant 500 :D. This is the guy that took 3 months to get to Barnards Loop and back and thought he was setting all *kinds* of records.......then I found this forum.....and FGE shortly after...and...

I know 500 isn't practical....but I am a bit over honkscoopjumping for now. Perhaps we can set an increasing pace, much like DW ended up being. Did I ever get a shock around WP 20/21. (what? *How* far? But..but..we've already travelled soooo far already)

Majority rules at the end of the day. I don't want to dictate.......except the meet times :p

10-12 hrs or 20-22 hrs earlier than thr DW meets would be peachy for me. Even 24 hrs is fine (Sat night IGT) as that's my Sunday. When the clocks change again we'd need to adjust.

Setting an increasing pace would be my idea as well. The closer we get to home, the faster we go.

What would sat night IGT be for you in numbers? At what interval IGT would it be possible?

I think as we get closer and closer to home, we will naturally move faster, for security, we should have a list of who is part of the group and not announce our arrival date / time but coordinate as we get closer.

I am ok with most evenings for the meet ups as long as I know ahead of the time so Friday / Saturday game time in the evening / night should be ok.

We will be travelling down the arm, 19, 18, 17 and so on, so what distance per week should we set for the first half of the trip?

Camp 10 is the half way point.

Should we say two to three weeks between camps till we get to Camp 10 then look at the time versus distance again?

Give us some feedback on the time between camps that you guys would think is ok, while giving plenty of time to explore as we travel home.

Hazarding a guess at the distances between the camps (about 10k LY? each) I think we'll need at least a couple of weeks between each camp to travel the distance comfortably with time to explore.

I think three weeks may be too big a gap though and might mean it takes us many months, rather than months, to get back home.

So in short, I think 2 weeks between camps would be good. What do you think? :)

if anyone is still in open at bp, i'm checking out that big crater on bp2 just now. come and join me if you want :)
ingame nick same as here

2 weeks sounds good.

I think a meet up app. every two weeks is a good balance between keeping momentum and keeping in touch and also keeping this somewhat loose and informal.

The distance between most camps on our route (camp 19 to 1) is between 5000 and 6000 LY. A meet up every two weeks would thus put our weekly pace at app. 2500-3000 LY.

While this could be a fine pace for the middle part of our travels, I would really prefer to take it somewhat slower while we are this far out. The upper end of the Sagittarius-Arm is an area very rarely visited, and Id like to take the time required to do a lot of exploring while we are out here. I know this is easy for me to say, since I now have an alt account back at the bubble to take part in the events there, but I would really like to take it slow and easy at first and then gradually pick up the pace.

So we take three weeks in this area between camps 19 to 18 and 18 to 17 and then speed up to say two weeks between all the rest of the camps.

I had such a good time with you all at BP I know I would enjoy the clockwise trip of the SAG-CAR mission. However, I would prefer to get back to the bubble before the end of July so I don't think I'll be traveling with you. I may follow the anticlockwise route back, but after following breadcrumbs to get to BP I've a strong desire to pick my own route for the way home, visit the POIs I missed on the way and hopefully discover many more interesting places (and revisit a few I found on my way out). After I get back to the bubble and get fed up with constant interdictions (!) I may continue anti-clockwise and meet up with you for your final few legs. I'll see how it goes.

Anyway, I'll see you all around BP, and at Chez Jaques' when he finally arrives, before we go our separate ways.

Aaaahhhh! I blew up my main SRV last night. I was down to 18% hull but I'd only been losing a few % each time I hit a boulder, then BOOM! I caught a boulder with my right front wheel and exploded. I feel like they're much more fragile than they used to be. thankfully I have another and I will be much more careful with this one, but I'm sad to have lost the SRV I drove at every waypoint on the expedition.

No, I've no good reason except stinginess. I can't even remember how much % a repair does as I normally just get back in the ship.

Suggestion for meet up schedule for the return trip via Sagittarius-Carina:

Starting with a slow pace during the summer months (while we are still far out), then increasing slightly to a meet up app. every 10th day (alternating thursdays and saturdays - to allow as many people as possible to take part at various times). The max pace will be a moderate 3500 LY/Week, slower in the beginning. But please note that this pace will delay our return home until january or february!

(give your feedback -> we make a few adjustments -> we announce it in the sag-car thread and move our future exploits there :) )

Can you remember the date of the Distant Worlds meetup date back in the bubble?
