Horizons distress call

As far as i know by my experience, if you drop on distress call signal sites there will happend one of this scenarios:
1. There will be a lone ship what will send messages what it need fuel. If you send fuel to it via fuel transferer limpet (need only one ton for any type of ship) pilot will thank you and after some time jump away.
2. Like the first one but there will be message in information panel what "security link is broken" (like in hazardeos RES) and wing with 3 to 5 pirate ships jump in with you. They will imidiatly attack you or ship in distress. You still can give fuel to ship if you will be quick with same outcome. You can fight pirates firts, but there will come new wave`s of them after some time. I don`t sure do the waves of pirates come if ship already departed.
3. There will be derbish field with some cargo floating around (in my case it was wine, liquor and beer in 4 times in row) and System Security vessel saying what ship was already destroyed as he came.
It seems like this scenarios is one what evolves in time.
In 2 and 3 scenarios we can see what pirates using some sort of devise or trick to prevent security ships coming to site, it is very interesting how they doing this. Can anyone say was on Galnet news any information about it?
Will try investigate how it work deeper.

distress signal

Jumped into one to see what it was about. Just the lone ship needing fuel. I waited a bit to see if pirates would come, no luck. Decided to scan the distressed ship and wouldn't you know it, had a 13k bounty on him. So I started shooting him amidst his complaining about kicking a guy when hes down. Moral is don't be in distress with a bounty on your head, or this old bounty hunter will collect.

Id imagine you get a reputation/influence boost for the fuel... I dont think FD would have absolutly no reward what so ever for a space-mission like that... there must be something.

I managed this in a FAS. It's not exclusive to wings but if you bring friends it'll obviously be easier.

That third wave is the last. I think one of them is a "boss".

Distress calls are really fun. Shame you don't get a reward for completing them, besides the bounty hand in.

Yes, this is something I feel they need to improve. The reward doesn't even need to be a direct monetary reward-a massive boost to your rep & influence with the pilot's faction, rights to any cargo the pilot dropped, or perhaps the pilot could inform you of the location of a mission that is worth a lot of cash.

Four of us in a wing played with distress calls for an hour or more and were very disappointed. All we got was the requests for fuel and police DUI reports. Once instance had pirates and a victim. The moment we killed the last pirate, the victim jumped out and no more pirates. No waves. We were armed to the teeth and ready for action and didn't get enough to warrant the time. If FD wants pilots to use this feature, they need to invest some more thought to the mechanics and rewards. There appears to be many missed opportunities to entertain with some story or motivation. Right now, it taught four of us to avoid them and go looking for entertainment elsewhere. While I'm at it, I'll also mention I avoid all these signal source things as under developed time wasters. Seems like I always have something else I'd rather be doing.

I installed some fuel limpets, because I wanted to what happens when you give them fuel. Turns out they just thank you and then scarper. No reward or anything, so it's not worth wasting a module slot on.

This game never fails to disappoint. Your actions NEVER have consequences.

I hop into distress calls all the time in my FDL.
If its just some DBX without fuel, I leave. But sometimes it's a wing of 5-7 ships ganking a poor DBX. So I stay. I've learnt to lateral thrust down when exiting SC thoigh, because the lead will always spawn about 200m off your bridge!
Annoyingly it puts you in front of the wing, but then I just flip and boost and start the murder song.
You'll usually get an ever increasing wave to keep you busy. The last one is always an Anaconda with buddies.
Kill them all!

Then a cool looking rescue Conda shows up.
Reward? Nothing. Not even a comms message. Plenty of bounties though.

I have yet to investigate a distress signal, that's actually a ship in distress. Admittedly I have not been playing long, but for me 'distress signal' reads 'pirate(s) in waiting, time to get me some bounties'. Which isn't such a bad thing, but it's nice to see that there are actually some instances where a ship is actually in distress (not nice for the ship obviously), and I hope that Frontier expands on NPC distress signals and rewards for helping in the future. That would be cool, but I guess not essential at the mo. :)

Just did one in a Diamondback Scout, dropped in with five ships which turned red and nearly collided with a Cobra, they attacked I ran as shields were dropping fast, then they dropped out of the chase one by one until there were two, just a Cobra and an Eagle, brought the frag cannons to bear and wham blam thankyou pirate spam. Also when the Cobra went up the pilots federation decided I was competent, if only they knew the truth! Right on commanders!

Only done a couple of these. Last one I did I jumped in, a vulture appeared right in front of me, I flew through him at full speed as it was not possible to avoid him, saw a shedload of red on the radar and got out of there fast. First one was an out of fuel guy. Couldnt help.

These need tweaking IMO. They should lead to a mission or some sort of rep hand in. If you rescue a ship from that system's faction you should get a positive rep at least.

This may have been updated. When the funky rescue Conda jumped in an found all the bad guys in chunks they comms me congrats and said I should join the Navy. Nice touch.

Sorry for necroing this thread, but do these "missions" still not provide any interesting reason to help them? I mean, if I'm to equip a fuel limpet to my viper IV, then I want something cool to happen, or at least some small token of gratitude...

I found one of these, today and thought they were new, but it seems they've been here long. The problem I have with things like these, is, that you can't go and come back with some fuel, as the instance doesn't persevere. I don't get why they haven't made a way to bookmark instances to hold them open, for reasons like these.

I suspect it helps your rep etc. with the faction you rescued (but have no proof of this).

Okay to resurrect this as FD could make helping distressed NPC's an interesting bit of game play.

Come on FD. I know you are busy, but is this feasible?

Certainly threat level has no relation to the ships and dager experienced in Distress Calls.Even when attacking pirates ahave been destroyed and/or seen off and the instance is cleared of hostiles, the NPC continues to reåpeat their mayday - it would be nice if they went off on their way or at least, THANKED the commander for helping ...
