Community Event / Creation DIY Controller and Throttle

The plans are for the v1 version. The video is about the v2 prototype. It isn't that difficult.

And obviously magnets and metal don't go together well.

Dude if youwant to go x3 and metal, google a bit, there are plenty designs around for large scale gimbals with metal and potmeter compatible position sensors. My design is oriented on very small setups and nowhere near ready for production. Remember it took me many months to get here.

Yeah, I've spent a lot of time Googeling - that's how I got here in the first place ;) - and your build has been the best information I've been able to find.

I see from the model that the main shaft of your joystick seems to be 14mm in diameter. I'm thinking to increase this to 25mm, so at the moment I'm looking at about a x1.8 scaling, but I'm still working most of this stuff out though. I've also located someone who has access to a CNC machine who reckons he should be able to mill what I need out of aluminum. From what I read hall effect sensors should not be affected by non-ferrous metals, or is that not the case?

I really think this will work but if you're able to find something you think will be better then I'll be keen to check it out.

Keep up the good work Cat,
I love what you've got going here [up]
Slarti.

With my health collapsing, i have less and less energy to work on the project, or even play Elite on a regular basis.

I therefore have to cancel my plan to design and produce an aluminium standalone joystick gimbal for DIY hotas builders

It has been a wonderful ride. Thank you for all your comments and suggestions.

Thank you for the inspiration and sharing your project with us. I hope I will get the chance to build something similar in the future. If I ever will do something like this I will surely come back to this thread.
