DK2 in Direct Mode with AMD Graphics Card - HDMI Connection Problem

Background:
I have a an i5 processor and AMD R9 270x gpu with 16Gb Ram. I run 2 flat screen monitors. GPU drivers are up to date.

My DK2 works great in Extended mode, and somewhat less great in Direct Mode in E: D. when connected using the DVI adapter as monitor 2.

Problem:
My GPU has a HDMI port, but when I plug the DK2 directly into it, the yellow power light comes on and the config utiility detects the presence of the DK2 but does not send a visual signal to the DK2. When I click on the Demo Scene, it appears on the monitor instead of the Rift. As do other demos incuding E: D

When I go in the AMD Catalyst Control Centre, desktop management. the rift is listed as a display alongside the 2 monitors but without a number. When I hover the mouse over the Rift display icon, a message appears saying "Rift DK2, DFP, DVI disabled" If I disable monitor 2 and set the rift to extend, nothing happens except I lose monitor 2.

Question:
Has anybody with an AMD card had any success in connecting the DK2 via the HDMI port?

EDIT: I can play fine in extended mode and do, but it would be nice to use the HDMI slot to avoid having to dis/connect the monitor every time I want to use the Rift.

Do not bother even to run it in direct mode. If you have extended working be happy.
Expect lots of problems if you have more than 1 screen.

Yes, I run my DK2 on an HDMI port (7970)

In direct mode I had horrible frame rates, it seems to work far better in extended mode. I have no doubts that once CV1 is released, direct mode will become the norm, but in the meantime extended seems to be the best way to go.

Iam running a 7970 and for some reason it was stuck in direct mode for about an hour tonight, was really clear but i did get a little jittering when i moved my head around in the cockpit but not too bad, seemed adjusting the interior light helped and playing with the 3d slider. I have been trying to figure out a way to upscale with this card but i dont think its possible.
