DK2 Position randomly resetting to odd positions

Hey, I opened a ticket about this during beta 2, and they said they couldn't replicate it so to try again in beta3. It's still happening to me, so I'm wondering if it's happening to anyone else.

Occasionally, the camera position will randomly jump to a new "home" position. Generally what happens is my head will suddenly drop down so it's about where my sternum is, and then I have to press the button to reset orientation again.

Obviously, with the DK2 camera, once you set position, you should never have to reset, but I find it gets out of whack every 5 to 10 minutes or so, and I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it'll do it while I'm looking to the side, sometimes it'll do it when I'm looking straight ahead in station services. I'll be sitting there, totally calm, not moving... and my head teleports into my chest.

Sometimes it ends up higher, too, so my head is almost up at the glass.

Anyone else get this?

EDIT: should be noted that I use the rift in a number of other games, including games I've developed myself, and I've never experienced this with anything but Elite: Dangerous

Yes my positional tracking mess up sometimes. Usually when im looking on the commodities list view, it sets me far too low for some reason. Ive also had some odd random behavior, when im suddently looking 90 degree wrong. But those are very uncommon.

I also occasionally see little blips at random where the colors will desaturate for a split second, as if I've moved my head out of the tracking area of the camera. Usually just a short blip, fraction of a second. Also seems kinda random.

Probably too close to the camera, it's FOV is a bit narrow which is why they recommend you are about 5 feet from the cam.

I've had two kinds of tracking problems so far:
1. The game still moves your head forward or backward on occasion (like when when accellerating or entering/leaving supercruise). These movements eventually add up and after extended playtime you sometimes end up sitting behind your chair, or way up close and personal with your front window... these movements should simply be deactivated for VR.
2. A glitch when entering certain full screen subsections, especially the galaxy and system map, can cause your position to be unintentionally reset to the position you were looking when entering these screens. Which is of course way off, since most screens are accessed through menus to your left. Should be a simple enough bug to fix.

Negative. Happens when I'm facing straight forward in clear view of cam. Cam was about 3.5 feet away. I did move it though, to about 5 feet, which was really good because I can now lean in to the menus more, which is awesome! I still get the occasional desaturated blinks and resetting-of-camera-into-my-lap at random.

I do not use voice attack

I did make a video of it in beta 2. Effect is the same in beta 3. The jump happens at the 50 second mark

Elite Dangerous Oculus Rift orientation issue: http://youtu.be/UxmSYRi5qS8

This also makes it clear that it's not doing a reset of the orientation, as that would put the camera at the correct position facing front and center.when this happens, the position of the camera goes whacky, but the orientation od the camera isn't affected. So if I'm looking left, and it happens, the camera drops down, but I remain looking left

I also experience the 2 issues mentioned here. Another one is if i take off the rift for a few minutes and put it outside the tracking range it resets the rotation to this position.

I get this too. My camera is about 5ft away and it will jump around and I have to reset it probably ever couple of minutes, extremely annoying. The view drift is the worst I've seen in any game yet.

Sorry guys just to confirm in the many many hours of play I have never ever had to reset my camera position in ED after the start. I only mention so as to confirm not everyone gets it and not inherent to DK2 with ED.

It appears to be something weird or would have been sorted by now. The only time I've lost tracking is when looking behind me (which I fully expected as no rear markers). Even then when I turn back it just carries on from before. I was a bit surprised to find in a dark room I can look behind me and keep head tracking. I don't know enough about the head tracking to understand why. Might be worth trying a dark room to see if lighting/windows makes any difference? If not that's another thing we can tick of the list.

Cheers
Mark

Also I normally do it 1 or 2 times. Annoying yes, because you have to add this to, increase performance to reduce judder, planet clipping, vertical tearing, but it's easily reset.

I am also experiencing occasional head tracking lose. This results in short 'flashes' where the color get desaturate. These started for me in Beta 2 and still exists in beta 3. It's not related to the postion of the camera, because no other game/demo has problems with the head tracking.

I am quite sure it's a resource problem where something is hogging up the CPU (most likely netcode). Disabling core parking fixes this problem for me, which proves to me it's CPU related.

Just to confirm I do get the occasional head tracking loss which results in colour desaturation.

However it picks up from where I left. I got the impression every 5 to 10 minutes tresch is having to press F12 to recenter because his headset is randomly jumping to a new home/orientation. Possibly a different issue?

I DEFINITELY want to buy the Rift. But I am DEFINITELY going to wait until the final version is released for sale. DK2 is a salesman's sample.
