DLC advancements on 'just new content'

I've been thinking a lot about interesting ways to create DLC's. Traditionally these would simply be extra content. In Planet Zoo this would usually be a few animals and some scenery. But often a dedicated animal pack or a scenery pack would arrive. Making two interesting slants on the entire idea of DLC. But in the end additional content nonetheless.

Other updates saw really big changes. The introduction of animals diving in the water. Modular gift shops and restaurants. Educators plus tours plus animal talks. These items added more dynamic gameplay and changed the feel of the game.

And that's what DLC should be if you ask me. Not just new content but things to change the entire dynamic of the game and make it something new.

What would you add which is not just content based???

I'd already come up with two ideas. I like the idea of Skateparks DLC which can work like gift shops in a modular sense to make ramp parks. I also like the idea of a Production Studio DLC which comes with the individual samples and tracks within each Planet Coaster song so we can remix them. This will work really great later down the line when people want custom sound tracks but copyright on music means they're limited. Since we already have a sequencer in the game, I'd hope music sequencing isn't a very large step up (?)

So I'd better suggest something new, haven't really thought about this.... Dunno. I suppose, well. I am strictly against the idea of combining the Coaster and the Zoo games to make one experience. But I think it would be kinda cute to allow petting animals into Planet Coaster like the Lllama's or Hen's and Capybara's in the same way that a carousel wouldn't be out of place in Planet Zoo.

Alternatively, The Kids DLC with modular playground building and video game machines.

That is a great point. So let's say, to create a make believe scenario. They do the Production Studio thing and I end up being able to remix all the Planet Coaster music. It isn't too difficult to let that finished sound file into the games of people who didn't buy the DLC. My skateparks idea though, that's useless unless you do pay for it. And here we have the explanation of why all of that extra stuff was free in Planet Zoo.

So what else is there which which can make a DLC more than 'Just new content'?

The point still stands, adding gameplay is through free updates so DLC can build upon those mechanics, the same way that they added walk-through exhibits in Planet Zoo through a free update even when there are no walk-through exhibit animals outside of DLC.

First of: I really feel animals and theme parks is a touchy subject, even as a petting zoo, it should be done ethical, which is hard to do without opening a complete rabbithole.

Midway games, arcades and so on: is one thing that i somewhat miss.
Ride pictures and customizable gift shops.
Hotels and Restaurants: Pls no cubes in a shoebox, but fully decoratble restaurants with customizable interior and so on.
Waterparks: We have them, but indoor options, spas, saunas, more playable stuff are missing.
Nature: again touchy subject, but have your lakeside fun with waterski, swimming in the lake and rowing boats. Also hikes and trails, which get more prestige the longer the 'nature' scenery is locked in place as some kind of nature preserve.
Maintenance: Switch tracks for train sheds, gardeners, a building for stafftraining and so on.

and i just plug my idea: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/parkzones.630761/
