DLC Teaser Discussion

It looks like we will have actually 8 animals without building pieces,

While an interesting theory, it's proven false right away by the fact that every screenshot has already shown us new building pieces in the form of the temple ruins.

Well, if the building pieces are coming with the free update that could technically be considered "base game content." So they might still be new. Looking at a few of those pieces (and that one piece of foliage in the very first screen shot), I'm not sure how much of the stuff that really pops out could be made.

Now I'm really curious to see what this DLC pack looks like. I will be so happy if the emphasis is more on the animals this time around, rather than a specific "theme" or "region" in the building sets. Obviously, I want more stuff to play around with but... I'm less interested in building a temple centerpiece or whatever than I am in designing the animal habitats.

I really do not think there wont be any building pieces. The game stands heavily on the building aspect (unlike JWE where only animal dlcs make more sense) and just look how much Frontier loves sharing the community creations. They love the workshop. I think it is safe to assume the dlc wont be just animals.

Fair point about potential building items from the upcoming patch, but this was in regards to the DLC and using those photos as proof it has building pieces, but as Bo confirmed, none of that was content from the DLC.
Now whether the DLC will have building pieces is entirely up in the air. Just the teases have no new DLC content in it according to Frontier. All we have to go on from history is that the last DLC had building pieces. This one might too or they might try something different.

Curious: Where do you all see new building pieces? Could you mark them in a screenshot? I see none, only things we have already. Just speaking of the social media teasers here.

I'm looking at the temple walls and Indiana Jones traps that aren't currently in the game.

The temple walls are from Asian theme, the East Asian stone pieces. The traps seem to be pieces from the African theme although I can't seem to quite remember which ones in particular. Bo said on Twitter it was all base game pieces.

The walls are indian architecture block, the floor east asian and the rest is indeed africa theme. I'm somewhat reliefed I'm not the only one that knows this game so much that she recognized :D

EDIT: The "arrows" (don't know the english word) are made of "African Disc Bunting Bead 10.

Ha! I actually just went into the game and checked and put together all the building pieces. :) I swear those stones look like the Asian theme. Anyway, could just be a mixture of the Indian and Asian theme. :)

And the used pieces:

I play the game A LOT. I've been hit with a new wave of creativity and I've got so many ideas for my next franchise zoo. :)

I did recognize these building pieces aswell. I'm really excited what they're going to announce. As we are one week away from the release-date of the free update, it would be great to see something today about a possible dlc.

Pretty much. The only new things were those bamboo structures on one of the update screenshots, then the purple plants in teaser 1 image. And then the llama statue. All of which could be part of the free update ( but in the case of the llama statue I doubt it).

It's probably just wishful thinking, but I hope we get an announcement today. They announced the Arctic pack a week or so in advance so...it would be really neat if they'd do the same again.

I know, right? I need that today. With a trailer would be awesome. Something to watch over nd over again, just to produce some gamers-endorphines here on my end.

EDIT: By the way, you might be right with the asian and not indian stones on the wall. The light might have confused me, looked more xellowish here. :)

To be completely honest, 4 animals in this DLC would be ridiculous.
Frontier, a company, has had three months to work on this. The Arctic Pack, which supposedly took one month to make, had 4 animals.
But three whole months? Plenty of time.

That is abit of a simple way to look at things. The Arctic pack was in parallel development to the base game. It definately took more than 1 month to make it. So the numbreof animals in this game is also defined by if Frontier started developing the second dlc parallel to the base game as well OR only had 4 month. 4 month of development is basically nothing.

Keep in mind, there are always working different teams on different projects. The ones that work on dlcs are not the ones that workon bugs, for example. And how many animals are in a dlc is not only depending on developing time, but also on marketing. If Frontier decides it's better to release smaller packs with a lower price point for the marketing of the game, we will forever get only a few animals for only a few bugs. If they think people are willing to spend more money on bigger DLCs, we will get bigger DLCs.

I do know dlc takes time there’s a lot of coding involved. If we got a few animals like a giant anteater ( fingers crossed we get one at some point) it would be unlike any animals on the current roster plus all animals have to be mated to all the in game coding. I’m kinda hoping this dlc will offer 6-8 animals myself but I wouldn’t be surprised at 4 tho either. I think the llama is one of the slots obviously so will just have to wait and see. A puma,Andean bear, giant anteater, jaguar, or howler monkey or all would be great.
