DLSS FSR and Improving Gaming Experience

Greetings CMDR o7.

In our beloved game, there are issues with anti-aliasing and stair-stepping. These problems can only be fixed by using the Super sampling function. I know this firsthand, as I use a 27‑inch monitor with 2K resolution, and it puts a heavy load on the graphics card. (I see no point in explaining how Super sampling works.)

By default, after setting ultra settings, the game automatically applies the first version of FSR scaling mode—which briefly came out in 2021—and it ruins the image very, very much.
Why don’t Frontier implement FSR 3 or DLSS? Other games they develop already have DLSS. I won’t even get started on the frame generator.

Does this mean Elite Dangerous players are second-rate?
Chris Roberts’ unreleased Star Citizen boasts three modes: FSR, DLSS (now at version four), and its own TCR technology.

And don’t forget that games developed by Frontier Developments run on the Cobra Engine, so in my opinion, if other games have new technologies, implementing them in Elite shouldn’t be a problem.
I suggest we bring up this issue to improve the gaming experience for all pilots in the galaxy. After all, Elite is always relegated to second place and even sidelined on Frontier Unlocked streams.

Do you agree with my proposal to introduce the “new” technologies that are present in other Frontier games or not?

Fly safe, CMDR o7.

I completely agree; such technologies are essential for the game. Moreover, it is highly desirable that they be the latest versions, including Frame Generation for the new 5000 series graphics cards. Additionally, with the introduction of DLSS, it is logical to also include RTX technology.

When I fly around the galaxy in windowed mode. There is a deterioration of the picture. Changing the permission does not change the situation. The normal picture is only in full-screen mode.

Maybe we should create an issue on the Frontier Issue Tracker asking for DLSS to be added and everyone should vote for it. And then FD will probably finally think about what the players need.
Oh, wait, I can't vote. I've already voted for the maximum number of 6 issues, and they still haven't been resolved. :ROFLMAO:

Yep, I agree.
By modern standards, this is a pretty basic thing.
I'm glad they were able to find a way to better monetize the game and at the same time give us something new (monetization of new ships) but the game needs technical fixes and optimization as well.
It's unlikely they will do anything but that doesn't mean there are no problems...

Well, yes, it would be nice to see an even more beautiful picture in our game, otherwise the atmosphere can sometimes be spoiled. Still, I like Elite more than Star Citizen and I would never want to leave this game, so I want an improved gaming experience. It seems to me that this should not be such a difficult problem and it is quite possible to do this, especially since many players would like this.
FD, please 🫡

I also wonder why Frontier is dragging its feet on implementing FSR 3 or DLSS. After all, these are no longer some kind of "technologies of the future", but quite affordable and proven solutions that have proven themselves well in other games.

And yes, it's a shame that Elite Dangerous is often overlooked. The game is great, with huge potential, but it clearly lacks investments in graphics, gameplay, and optimization.

I am all FOR the introduction of new technologies in Elite Dangerous. This will not only improve the visual component, but also, perhaps, breathe new life into the game, attract new players and bring back old ones.

Well it's mostly to the fact that frontiers care about elite dangerous less than other games even though it's their most popular game... also of course engine limitations, cobra engine is REALLY old, as you can see with shadows or poor optimization of odyssey and on-leg content. Of course they could modify it but they don't earn enough from elite to put significant money there...

I can't help but drop my point of view. I have highest quality image in RL and I do not need game to be as realistic as that. I really miss times when ED was running smoothly on integrated GPU. I know some players are obsessed by resolution, frame rate etc. but for players like me better game content is a lot more important than fancy effects and top graphics. I do not mind those upgraded options mentioned above as long as I have choice to opt them out or if they make smoother gameplay with the setup I have atm.
To summarize I care the most about smooth gameplay than graphics quality so I agree some optimizations are in order but if changes made to engine forces me to drop out of game for another year or two again due to hightened hardware requiements I'm not sure if I will back to play again. I have to admit that I'm more like casual player now- sometimes I'm online for longer times but what I do mostly is to get weekly ARX in case we have something interestign introduced to the game.

Where you've been guys all that time since i'm talking about it for 3+ years since Odyssey release????

@Кисель не видел в них ни одного твоего лайка. Где ты был всё это время?
