I'd not go as far to say that I enjoy it, but I'd say that I'm happy to do it if needed or there is a good enough goal. I did it in DAoC, WoW with fishing skill, in ED by trading, and now in BDO. (Engineers isn't a worthy goal though, mainly because of the random outcome, had it been a "pick 1 of these 3 outcomes - you get this bonus, but this penalty" then I'd have did it. But not for the lottery it is atm). :)

I don't know what everyone is doing, but I don't grind in Elite. Why would I, grinding suck, so I don't do it.
I play and have fun. If you find Elite to be a grind, try just having fun and instead of grinding.

What you are saying quasi directly is "your post is rubbish" that is what you are saying. Instead of saying "I disagree with your opinion and this is why".

That is the difference. They don't tolerate that sort of behavior here (trust me .. I know) and it will get you banned.

Wow looks like you spent a lot of time in ED too.

Trust me FD is not concerned. They got their money and they'll be happy selling bobbleheads to their left over fans for the next 10 years.

Not really I was just surfing the forums and saw this thread and i felt like I should be posting. That doesn't mean im quitting the community. I just don't feel like clicking on my Elite Dangerous icon because the game is just in a bad shape and not enjoyable.

Meanwhile im playing EVE online (having a good time) and reading people complaining about this game on a daily basis.

See now there is a well thought out post contrary to the other people.

I used to play DAOC as well and it was a grind / treadmill but like you said a lot of those MMO's had epic quest and such but the grind always led to something rewarding. This game grinding only leads to more grinding.

Got confirmation bias?

So it looks like people would prefer a game does not have grind mechanics to it including the majority here who are fans of the game.

Take note.

For what its worth, I don't like 'grinding', so I dont grind. Still almost a billionaire in-game and, judging by some of the whining on the forums, above average skills. Heck, I even have fun! I do what I enjoy, and if you don't thats your own issue to deal with.

Hold on a moment, I think you are misrepresenting votes here, that's not what you asked with your poll, you even clarify here what the poll is about:

Just saying - some people do enjoy it. It put them into a trance like state - free from any thinking. Grinding is like driving your car .. sometimes you don't even know how you got from point A to point B because you were thinking about other things instead of paying attention to the road. Your subconscious was driving.

This sort of "escape" from your own mind into a dream fugue like state is addictive to some personalities.

So this is a legitimate question - DO you like to grind?

You didn't ask "should the game be designed to remove all grind-able mechanics?" or even "Is this game only playable as a grind" These would have elicited totally different results to the question "Do you like to grind?" Almost all games have some kind of grind-able mechanic and it's down to a players personal preference if they prefer to play the game or grind. Even if I thought it was possible to remove possibility of grind from the game, which I don't, I don't think players who enjoy grinding should be prevented from doing so!

Oh come on.

You've asked a poll that is no different from:
Do you like tasty food or bland food?

And you expect people to get anything from the result? This whole thread is just a piece of bait to cycle around to "and therefore Fdev should change the game to how I want it"

Which doesn't apply as your definition of grind isn't something I've experienced so far in this game.

This is how a Colonel Poll always goes:

1) Smear feces on a sandhich
2) Eat sandhich
3) Ask online if people prefer yummy or yucky food
4) Use the poll to demand the baker makes more yummy food
5) (optional) Threaten to go to that other bakery, the one that might open in 2019.
6) Ignore criticism, single out every post that agrees by quoting "yes, finally a logical and rational response!"
7) Think of a semi-new way to phrase the same old whine, go back to step 1)

:D
