Do players still get the entire pack of paint jobs with a purchase? If not then paint jobs just went up about 6 fold.

Individual paintjobs are more expensive, but it should work out that you're spending a lot less, unless you have an uncontrollable need to collect things.

Seems fair to me that the price would go a up a little, since people are mostly only ever interested in a single paintjob in a pack of five. I know I always begrudged the other four colours I didn't want but had to pay for.

Used to be about $5 for 6 paint jobs, now it's about $5 for one paint job 2 at the max oftentimes.

As for single paintjobs being the same price as packs used to be, I'd like to see this information sourced.

Consider whatever you like. My points are just way above yours. And no I'm not going to explain it. If you can't grasp a simple concept like giving your cash to a company who then give you a fake currency in return as being a bad purchase, then there's no point in continuing with you. Fools and money comes to mind.
You do know that all currency is fake. Currency is only worth something because we allow it, we choose to. But in reality these little bits of metal and paper/plastic are worthless.

Before you wanted a particular color / skin for your ship but you had to buy a whole pack to get it. Now you can buy the exact color / skin you want and it costs less. For me, personally, it’s an improvement.

Also while on the topic of ARX and skins and all that: for me it’s a big improvement that you have the store inside the game and you buy stuff using ARX, which you can buy outside the game. This is how it is for a ton of other games too (Fortnite, Apex Legends, etc.) and it makes the store experience better since it’s in-game and consistent between all platforms.

Finally, the absolute price (i.e. not relative to what it was) for skins is just fine. It’s the cost of a cup of coffee at Starbucks but rather than getting one each morning on the way to work you buy only a couple of skins ever. And now you can earn ARX inside the game, which means that if you only buy a few skins per year you might never need to spend any money on them at all. Or if you want to think about it another way, perhaps consider the price of items to be reduced for people who play a lot. The more you play, the cheaper the items become.

Seriously, whining about something as trivial as this, as cheap as this, makes you look pretty foolish. This is the behavior you see with small children. If this really makes you so upset, then perhaps you should stop and consider your values and priorities for a bit?
The support of your argument is that "other companies have their own currency as well" and "other companies sell overpriced stuff as well".
If you compare the price of a paint job to the games total price (~100€), you cannot argue the price is "just fine" with a straight face.
"Seriously, whining about something as trivial as this, as cheap as this, makes you look pretty foolish." "Cheap" does not equal low price.

That left over Arx goes into the same pool that the Arx you get for just playing the game does. It does not disappear. You can then save up and buy something with that Arx. You will always have bits left over in your account as we get Arx added by just playing the game.

If you include that Arx, it can be easily concluded that everything is substantially cheaper.

Bit hey, any excuse to complain right.
No, it is a fact, that he spend more on that ship kit in the current implementation. You are assuming, that he wants to spend ARX on other stuff as well, but he did not intend to do so.

Most people get more then one thing if they are invested in the game, also you can save up your arx and not buy any at all to get your items, sure it will take longer, but you have the choice, pay money to get it now, or wait and get it later by just playing the game.

If you are not happy about wasting a few pence/cents if you don't intend to spend anything else just don't get it, that is a viable option as they are all cosmetic and are of no benefit to you at all within the game. Now if it was pay to win, then I would have issue with it, but it isn't.

You could also go for the 8820 arx and then use earn't arx for the remainder getting the ship kit for £4.99 which is somewhat cheaper then what they were before.

The choice is yours. Get a smaller pack and save up arx to get it cheaper, save up arx get it for nothing (will take a while), buy a larger Arx pack to pay for it out right and get it instantly.

What is the issue exactly?

It honestly makes me wish I could opt out of even earning ARX because the drop rate is useless and only is there to facilitate psychological manipulation.

This doesn't make any sense. You can't unring a bell. The psychological manipulation has been done, seed is planted, you are theirs.
Ok, skip the last part, but you know you are working for Arx. Whether they opt in out for you, or you just chose to ignore it. If you really REALLY don't want it, don't click continue.
