Do the premium weapon colors affect cannons?

I've been a multi-cannon and lasers kind of guy the whole game, but recently decided to try branching out into plasma accelerators and cannons.

It's been a learning process to gauge the lead needed, but it's especially difficult with cannons.

I read that buying the colors for your weapons will give multi-cannon rounds colored tracers, but does this also work with cannon shells? It would really help to see where and how I'm missing my shots.

Try looking into the gunsight mode. Using fixed weapons (other than rail guns), leading mode will give you a little thing to aim at when locked on to a target. There is a trailing mode, but I don't know much about it. Or just use rail guns. No leading needed.

Well, I wanted to splurge a little and throw some money at FD, while finding some in-game way to justify it besides "pretty colorz" :)

I would assume that the weapon colors affect all weapons where possible. I don't know about cannons specifically, as I don't like cannons personally. The colors seem to affect MCs and even rail gun slugs.

It does affect cannons, but their projectiles aren't bright enough to make much of a difference. The most noticeable difference is the coloured impact explosion. Otherwise you will still have to watch for the tiny trail of smoke.

Just tested it. They do. My cannon, which fired a trail of grey smoke before, now fires a red tracer-like smoke trail.

Nice. Hard to notice that in combat :)

Packhounds have red smoke trails, too.

BTW, FD, I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but the Red/Blue weapon descriptions are criss-crossed in outfitting.

All of these weapons are supposed to be blue :D

This is an (aweomely moddeled size 2) cannon firing from aside an Asp cockpit... red weapons color (labeled blue in outfitting).

It changes the muzzle flash and impact explosion

Not sure about the shells themselves in flight, I find them hard to see in VR as I have to turn down the settings

Thanks for testing it, vindelanos! Have some Rep!

I wasn't expecting the cannon shell to suddenly look like a large caliber tracer round, but it's nice that the smoke changes color. Perhaps that will be enough to help! I guess we'll find out when I get home from work and apply some colors :)

It does. My cannon impacts match my weapon colour choice. There is the exception of the high explosive engineer mod, it remains as a normal explosion, which I like. Not sure which other engmods cancel the effect.
On the subject of cannons, really loving the force shell engmod. Watch those ships go spinning outta control when you slam that gear into them.
