Do we have a roadmap for Colonisation?

Hi all!
Just a quick one.
Do we have any idea of a roadmap or final release of Trailblazers?

Currently, it's a massive investment in time and resources for very little reward, except bragging rights.

Do we know if that's ever been publicly stated if it's going to get buffed, changed etc?

I build a whole system from scratch but can't charge tariffs on repair/rearm (like fleet carriers), don't get a cut of the profits from sales of minerals mined or even generate materials for myself for future expansions.

Thanks!

In that respect Frontier have given no hints that they think Colonisation needs extra reasons to do it. What you see is what you get in that respect.

There are likely to be more changes before they declare it "final" but they'll almost certainly be like this week's patch or Update 3 - changes to / clarification of / bug fixes on the rules for service activation, or how station economies are built, rather than anything more significant.

At the moment there have been no announcements about how many more updates are planned or what they might do.

Just on the bit I underlined, yes you can - you can build markets which produce commodities which can be used to build more facilities. Very common, especially in the more distant colonisation projects, to avoid having to go all the way back to the bubble so often.

Sorry, I should have clarified. I mean for free.
Don't I still have to buy the CMM and steel etc from those ports?
It saves the jumps back to the bubble yea, but I put in the work, I should get something back?

You get paid above market value for delivering to the construction sites, a weekly payment based on the size of the system, and a discount on ships and modules when the system has been built up enough. Apparently that's nothing?

I mean, 25% profit on commodities I spend 4 weeks transporting is probably the least they can do?
5 million a week for payout and a discount that can already be had at Shinny Dez?

It's not nothing, I actually didn't say it was, but I was hoping for more.

I think the only thing we have to go back to the bubble for is Emergency Power Cells, (EPC) and that's likely the thing that's going to see movement.
Everything else is available out here so far as I can see.

People will defend the meager return here and on Reddit, but the return is entirely why I'm not doing colonies as well.
  • The "passive income" is low enough to be a non-factor
  • I don't want to do more trading
  • The Bubble already has everything & colonizing to save pennies on outfitting is like driving 20 extra minutes for 5 cents off on gas
Compare this to Powerplay - where I can do things I like in game and get an extra 50 Million/week just for picking a fun color to "support". And to tack onto this, I got paid 250M for collecting a player bounty yesterday. It's not for everyone, but that's far more engaging and is nearly an entire year's worth of colony income. If people are going through the effort of literally building these systems out, they should get some return for it imo. Doesn't need to be cash, but ship and suit materials would certainly make sense.

With respect anyone doing Colonisation for credits is going to be disappointed, it was never intended as a wealth fund.

Someone say roadmap? no prob, here:

Haven't done any colonisation myself but for me, the best part is seeing lots more asteroid bases in game. Keep up the good work, guys. ;)
I’ve yet to finish my first one still. May finally get to it in the coming days or week/two weeks, though, since I’m finally seeing an end to the tunnel of building refineries in the most central locations where I can use them. Or mostly, at least. There’s that one system of mine which is just out of convenient jump range I’ll have to cover for at a later point… but… well. It’s just one.

“Mechan has lost it and joined the Thargoids” is the best part.

The 15ly limit is what's putting me off. I'd still like to set up a colony tens of thousands of lightyears out.

Maybe an occasional Community Goal? With special long-range beacons available as top rewards?

The options for colonisation are there at Colonia and on FC's, but the option is not available yet, so one can assume that one day, they will be available. I'm sticking around Colonia, and as soon as it opens out here, I'm heading off into the black.

I just started my third... None are finished...

Im on my 5th. Its a learning curve hehe. Idk why but its a buzz. Perhaps cos im contributing to the galaxy as a whole...
My first system was a washout.
2nd the same. 3rd 4th and 5th are wip.
The 5th, Ross 422 is very interesting. Im not going to be so impetuous. Slapping down this n that. Ross 422 fits the CMM composite spec so that's what I'll be going for.
I've cracked the steel, etc problem. But mixing stuff is damaging. Which is a shame tbh. Having high tech, industrial, refinery all in one seems like a good idea till you see it isn't in terms of commodities on a tier ll or lll.
Overall like I said it's almost addictive hehe. Can't wait for the PC 2 to arrive though. Got a couple of tier llls waiting.

“And that is why”

… I only keep two of those bigger construction projects running or as my focus at a time.
I was poking around, wanting to do an agricultural system, found this one and decided to jump on it. It has a water world where I'm building a T2 as the primary port.
