Do we need Scientology in the game?

i cant remember their name but wasnt there a vicious religious group in Frontier & / or 1st encounters and if you annoyed them by doing certain missions to their system they hounded you for ages?

I played Frontier Elite II to death, but I can't remember.
I want them back in the game. I'd love to send them to their godly overlords.

Do we need Scientology in the game? No.

Have we got it in the game? No. A single dock not even properly named if it is actually intended to refer to the hack science fiction author isn't an endorsement of anything.

Silly fuss over nothing.

So long as the station doesn't play "Key to life, Key to life, oh-oh-oh, ohooo" on an endless loop like they did in the reception of Saint Hill, and it's not founded by a colossal end of the bell like the namesake then I can live with it.
Classic grey emeter for sale at a mere 2000 GPB as a rare would annoy me too.

But perhaps a small reference to methodism would make me happy. A wesleyan chapel somewhere in alpha centauri perhaps? What do you think guys?

as fpr religion in sci fi.... its a tough line.............. i hated the religious angle in DS9, Babylon 5 and BSG TBH.

It was Van Maanen's star. Needed a permit to enter (and it wasn't like these days where you "grind" to get your permit), pretty much everything was banned and regular trading was pretty painful. Selling luxuries on the black however...

I assume you are aware that L Ron Hubbard was a Sci-Fi writer? Despite Scientology being a load of hogwash
This. He was a sci-fi author and naming stations after them is standard. I don't think there is any validation of any of his beliefs in naming a station after him.

Frankly, I think we need more stations named after conquistadors, and after H.P. Lovecraft characters.

We're not allowed to say f a g. Since when is that a swear word? Its a roll-up cigarette.

Since public hypersensitivity and "You Will Accept Me" Marches became fashionable.

Political Correctness is Social Cancer killing humanity.

Concepts like "Suck it up", "Deal with it", "Life is hard", "There are winners and there are losers", and of course "Get some thicker skin" are an anathema to the PC agenda.

You can also blame dirtbag schisters who found a way to make money from suing for things like "You hurt my feelings" for rapidity of the spiraling decline we are all being sucked into these days.

And you can thank crybaby groups who feel it is there responsibility to protect the world from everything they think might offend someone that we cannot mention https://eddb.io/station/40172 by name here either, because the name is also slang for male genitalia. It's a g Proper Name for a few million human beings.

It was also an electric typewriter years before anyone used it as a slang term for their willie.

Mormonism is in the game - LDS 883- Smith Reserve.
Its where you buy the Rare commodity Chameleon Cloth
(though I think the 'rares" you should get there should be something like "Seer Stones" or "Golden Tablets")

As far as I know Mormons dont have anything to do with Sci-Fi.
At least not the Sci part.

And with making no comment on whether Scientology, or any religion for that matter, is a cult or a hoax, or whatever. The bubble of 3303 would be a pretty dead and dreary place without its fanatics and zealots.

Oh, but they do... see they don't advertise it openly because they don't want laughed at. Research "Kolob" and you'll find out.

Just wondering if that is really necessary. It is a cult and having references in there is something I do not find particularly funny.
Or any other religion for that matter.

There is no reference to Scientology in this game.

The Ron Hubbard that I know runs a tea shop. I dont think he minds references to him in computer games.

It's assumed that Frontier is referring to L. Ron Hubbard. Google 'Ron Hubbard' and nothing but Leonard. Don't know enough of Scientology to say if its a terrible thing, for better or worse, Ron Hubbard is a notable figure, and is worthy of a dock..

Suppose its like Frontier naming a port Adolf Hitler City because of his animal rights activism... Not the first thing that comes to mind, but notable.
