Do you have problems updating from within Oculous Home from 2.3.11 to 2.4 ? *FIXED*

Hi Commanders , i noticed with today's update when i tried to update from 2.3.11 to 2.4 it failed 2 times from within the Oculous Home Software. It informed me that my antivirus was stopping the install. This was a load of total crud , as the installer couldn`t overwrite the required files to finish install.

Myself and Cmdr kurai kaze had problems with Elite getting to 99% and failing with the error above. We both had ideas , and Cmdr Kurai Kaze came up with a bright idea that we had not thought off.

BACKUP YOUR KEYBINDS FILE.

Code:
kill the Oculous process from within Task Manager.
Restart Oculous.
Uninstall Elite Dangerous from within Oculous Home application.
Reinstall game from within Oculous Home application

Result ??? Game now installs properly and will run :)

Dunno why but on a few occasions patching has gone wonky. Last during 2.4 beta where I couldn't get the main menu loaded in vr.
Until I did just this, delete and re-install.

Now I'm fortunate enough to have no download restrictions and 1:1 300Mb/s pipe.
The fresh install process seems to go faster than actually patching it...

TorTorden,

So it worked for you aswell ?
I'm not using the oculus install and I didnt even try to patch via launcher this time.
I just unistalled via launcher options and re installed.

Took maybe 20 minutes to download and none of the usual errors.

I'm just sort of commenting I find the patch process fd does as a bit error prone and time consuming. If you have decent internet chances are just downloading completely is faster, but alas if you don't its a luxury solution.

Like beating rush hour traffic simply by taking your helicopter...

Yeah, mine would get to 97% and then fail, telling me that the anti-virus was blocking it, even though it wasn't. I tried rebooting, disabling the anti-virus, and running Oculus Home as administrator, in case it was a file permissions issue or something. But no, it still blamed it on the anti-virus.

Uninstalling and then re-installing ED worked.

Just a question but why don't you just use frontier's client for the game. What is the advantages of using oculus home?

Mainly so that your VR apps are all in one place. However also, when launched from Home, the audio automatically redirects to the HMD headphones, without having to switch the Windows playback device.
