Do You think This Is Cheating...

It's not cheating. It does highlight how the game design fails both you for being repeatedly annoyed, and them for being frustrated.

The real problem is that once this scenario has been understood the game was not changed to fix the obvious gameplay issues with the original specious design.

ED, too big to fail ?.

Ugh... Again this open players and pvpers are the masterrace discussion. I play Exclusivly solo and private with friend. if I'd want to get KoS and griefing I'd re-sub my eve account. I play for fun and getting wing-killed by some pvpers aint my definition of fun.

ps. thats not cheating, its just using ingame tactic the others didnt see. :D

Are we to assume this game's design was meant to bring about 'gentlemanly' play? We are playing different games if that's your interpretation!

ED was designed for adversarial gameplay ... once you understand what adversarial is (by definition not fun for one party) it's a specious decision imho.

Not cheating, but seems like fence sitting. Getting the benefit of Solo while purporting to play in open isn't cheating.

Maybe they forget the password - or they forget how to spell password.

One of life's little mysteries...

:D

There is that possibility of course, but the reset button or grounding the NVRAM sorts that little problem on anything your average home user will encounter. On some models the NVRAM is resolutely uneraseable, which is why they get shredded at EOL :(

A wing of 3 (Clipper, Asp, Vulture (maybe something else)) interdict my fully-loaded-with-Palladium Anaconda. I submit, boost, jump back in SC, then IMMEDIATELY drop back into normal space and boost-boost-boost for while, then go back SC until they try to interdict me again, at which point I drop back into normal space and repeat, until I get fed up and switch to Solo. I fly to the station in Solo, then switch back into Open while at the station.

They show up at the station and they call me out for "combat logging", say they have video, they reported me to FD (LOL), etc...

What does the hive-mind think? Was I cheating, or playing using the game mechanics as intended by the Devs?

FD made the game such, so, no you were not cheating. Just goes to show how stupid the entire one shared galaxy, different realities, and the ability to switch back and forth design is. That's 'Frontier "we aim to please everyone" Developments' for you.

Maybe you missed the bit where they said people should always have a chance to escape.

Adversarial gameplay is optional - by design. Some people don't like that but that's how it is.

Its not cheating, the PVE of the community will be screaming its working as intended but the reality is its exploiting a system, which I am sure deep down DB didn't envisage.

Using easy mode to avoid danger and then change back into Open when its safe, cowards solution.

Its totally lame.

Either play in Open or play in easy mode but make your choice.

If you use it to avoid danger, its no better than the cheats who use the 15 seconds log out to save their pretend ship from dying.
Then they will cry "Working as intended" as they log into solo, fly to a station and the log back into open feeling like champions for out smarting the nasty PVP'er.

In open mode the game is there to play as you want to. If you want to assume the role of 'player killer' then that's your choice and others should respect that. If players can't handle it then open is not for them.

Your sig states "mobius infitrator". Why would you do that? These players have organised the game in a way that they enjoy. Would you really join that mode and attack them? They are a) not expecting it and b) have made the choice and effort to avoid it. This wrong and to use one of your own terms 'cowardly'.

I play in 'easy mode'. I prefer to play the game in my own way, I'm not looking for human interaction, video games are a escapism for me. I'm not sure I would consider myself a coward though, in this or any aspect of life.

Sorry mate, I don't mean to have a pop, fwiw I would defend your right to play open in the manner you want and I'm fine with the accusation of solo players as cowards. I would disagree with it, but I can see why you see it that way and respect you.
But to 'infiltrate' other chosen means of pleasure and deliberately destroy it is just plain rude and shows poor character.

Yes...but do you understand what 'adversarial game play' means within this game? It is not PvP pew pew! It's adversarial collection of PvE trophies....and their delivery to some place...which is still more efficient in Private modes.

Your apparent definition can be shot down as a descriptor for this game because PvP pew pew is inefficient AND not promoted through bonuses, higher values for PC kills, etc.

Once you understand this valuable distinction...which you can decide for yourself is good or bad design...THEN you can decide properly for yourself whether you should play or not!

I'd like to bask in the reflected glory of your technical knowledge by nodding sagely at this point in agreement - but apart from the reset button I haven't got a clue what you're talking about! :O

I find a hammer works best - or switching to another broadband circuit whilst I get a new router out of the box.
