General / Off-Topic Do you think we are alone in the Milky Way?

Probably are Sentient beings. Whether or not they are carbon based or otherwise is questionable, as is where on the scale of evolution are they. They could be lightyears ahead of us or blinking Cavemen.

We're not, and my clinical diagnosis proves this.

I never said magick was limited to Earth, did I?

Quite the opposite actually.

Whilst microbial life apparently appeared on Earth just as quickly as it reasonably could, it took billions of years for more complex, multi-cellular life forms to emerge. This seems to suggest that the development of so-called intelligent life forms is incredibly difficult , (and that's before we even consider the vast odds against the development of 'technological civilization'). The human view is also, inevitably, parochial and human centred. We just assume it's natural for beings like us to evolve. I suspect that the truth is it's anything but, and that we may very well be alone, not just in the galaxy, but in the cosmos.

Could be we simply don't count for much of course!

I do not know.

I suspect it by the intuition.

;)

The life is so microscopic and the universe and its distances so gigantic, that the partitioning is obvious here.

Not at all obvious to me.
Don't you think you might not have enough information to come to these conclusions about superior forces and 'partitionings'?

The mere fact that something is big cannot lead one to the conclusion that there is intentional partitioning taking place.

Given the available data there is nothing we can say about superior intelligences or partitioning

Don’t get me wrong.

It’s not conclusions, just suppositions.

However, voluntary or not, there is an obvious form of partitioning here.

Do not forget that man only makes a microscopic and insignificant jump to the moon and with the greatest difficulties and a considerable number of human and financial resources.

At the scale of the galaxy and beyond, of the universe, our performances are simply ridiculous and anecdotal.

:)

Partitioning is in the mind, I would say.

I agree that the distances involved make contact with alien intelligent lifeforms somewhat problematic :).
I am very careful never to use words that might imply intend.

I dunno man, there are things that make me wonder sometimes.

Yes, the distances but also our fragility, our vulnerability, our limited intelligence and knowledge.

I read that we use 10% of our brain. If one day we use 100%, maybe we will use our mind to get in contact with other intelligent life forms, at distance ...

The flying saucers are hovering just out of reach of Earth's sensors, waiting for a better President before they land.

President of what?

President of Earth, of course.
