Dockable chatpad for PS4 controller

What I would like to know is if game actions like landing gear, hyperspace jump, etc. can be assigned directly to the keys

You know that for not being officially supported there is always the risk it will not work properly. Still, no it only work for imputing text nothing else, it would be great if we could assign commands to a keyboard.

I have one. Its nice for inputting words and stuff in the map search, but you cant bind ship functions to it.

There isn't one because it's a PS4 restriction that has nothing to do with ED. The OS only accepts the control codes of the buttons/sticks/pad on the original DS4. Third party devices must conform to those specs to be approved by Sony; if you take a look at the Thrustmaster Hotas you'll see that the buttons and number of axes match those of the DS4. External keyboards may only be used to input text. The only way to emulate more functions is by using mechanics like simultaneous button presses like Elite already does.

I have been thinking about getting one, takes forever to write a sentence with the controller. :/
