Docking animation - bug or feature?

Anyone else finding that occasionally the docking animation and pad number appear only briefly and then go off? The docking permission text remains unchanged above the scanner, and I can still dock there, but it's a bit disconcerting - what if you miss it and then can't find the pad?

Of course, in the real world anything can fail, so presumably in ED's version of reality it can happen there too including, I suppose, starport services and infrastructure, e.g., docking pad directions. I just wonder if that is deliberate or a bug?

A further thought:
a) if it is intentional, and you land on an unauthorised pad because of poor starport maintenance, and get zapped, would they give you the value of your ship & cargo back?
b)If it's a bug, would FD give it you back?

It's a bug. If you get a chance you should send a support ticket to FD about it.

If you can't find your pad, use the compass (to the left of the main viewer thingy) which will guide you in the right direction.

It's a bug. It used to work, but FD broke it in one of the gamma patches. You can get it to show up again by rotating your ship 360 degrees.

I raised a ticket on 19dec, waiting for a response (Support gives themselves 48 hours).

Thanks for the workaround tips!

Happens to me a lot, just use the compass, I suspect we'll need to be able to fly on instruments at some point anyway once we get planetary landings, can't see all atmospheres being transparent so use this as practice.

I think they're getting about 1,000 tickets a day at the moment so I can understand if they haven't had a chance to get back to you!

It's not Star Citizen so they probably have like 1-2 persons at the task. And no way to process all the tickets. Feel lucky if you get your ticket answered before you get too old and can't remember anything anyway.

Try to go by the compass and if you try to land on the wrong pad you will get a loitering warning - get away from it quick and try another one! Usually at some point they light up again anyway. :)
