Horizons Docking computer in 2.1

It is a Docking Computer, it isn't a fully fledged auto pilot! I've never crashed using the Docking Computer. I always stop at aprox 6.5kms from the space station, then request docking permission then when accepted, the docking computer does the rest...perfectly every time.

If I am going too fast the docking computer will not work efficiently or at all, as the speed overrides it. As stated its not an auto pilot its only an electronic docking mechanism. Slow down and stop, request docking permission and it will work every time or your money back.

I do maybe 40 to 50 docks per session of play as a trader...so yes I use the DC...its a Godsend or I'd go mental doing all that lining up and slowing thrusters back, up, down, left, right, left, right, down, left, right, back, forwards a bit, down, up, left a little more, right, down slower, up a bit, left a bit, right a bit, forward a bit more, forward a little bit more, down just a tad, down just a tad more, down just a tad more, up a tad...too much....back down a tad...too fast....up a little bit more, down slow, down slow line up, line up, left, right, left, right....nearly...nearly....okaaaaay....got it...waheeey! 30 to 40 times a session, yeah right!

You are my hero - I 100% agree with you.

Yes... but then you miss out on boosting through the slot into the station at 400 km/s. :D That is fun in a loaded Type 6.
Or when you boost thru the wrong side of the slot and you get the surprise of an NPC ship wants to exit and you try to avoid it like crazy. It's more fun when there is a player and you kinda feel the surprise he gets when you are boosting towards him :)

My only problem with the DC is that with engineered engines it sometimes comes in too fast. I never take my eye off the DC until i'm sure its going to make a safe approach.
