Docking Etiquette?

Starting to think that you could find out who plays ED by just checking where the most bashed up cars are parked in a street... :D

I never check my surrounding, never looking back, just retract the landing gear and boost out......
Something blocking my way.....A8 prismatics take care of it :x

Last time i did it, i've noticed the careless station defense system achieving a triple kill lol

Sometimes i forget to take care, i've hit once a cmdr in a Type-6 to 4% hull because he was going the wrong path inside the station. Clearly his own fault, I have said him sorry anyways.....[blah]
But no sorry if i fly in a Cutter and some other stupid cmdrs think they can squeeze their silent running ASP together with me through the mailslot. Have squished them always at 95m/s and after this i had a laugh :D

It really depends on my mood but i take at least always the right path. Always speeding and boosting except in the big 3. Have lost 2 rebuys even that it wasn't my fault and i decided that 1100 tons are enough to squeeze any other people also with lesser than 100m/s xD

I think taking off is one of the only times I don't really pay attention to anything except for drift and speed and who's outside of the slot.

If you're behind me, welp.. I'm either gonna get knocked aside or you're going to bounce off of me. No biggie.

Docking computer, btw...Tried it yesterday...

It needs the following adjustments;

Pips to engines at all times
Boost on CD at all times
Gear down an inch from the pad no sooner
Middle of the mailbox (not the side)

This song to be played in place of the current elevator music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCGvVmWRmTc

AND the queue should be removed. Looks like fun when 5 Belugas - 2 T-9 and some CMDR's try to get in and out at the same time lol

So, I'm lifting off, inside a coriolis station in my T9, when I get a ranty DM suggesting (amongst other things) that I need to "look where I'm going".
Next thing I know, I'm being shot at from behind, I just about had time to target him and see that it was a Cobra and then the station's laser blew him to bits.
*shrugs*

The way I see it, I realise that pilots can't see behind them (without using the debug camera) so it's always up to the person who can see the other ship to take avoiding action.
I'm sure we've all been cut-up by both NPCs and CMDRs but, as long as you can see them, you just slow down or turn to avoid a collision.

No big deal.

And, let's face it; if you're flying a Cobra and you can't avoid a T9, you have bigger problems than accidental collisions.

Am I wrong to have such a cavalier attitude toward station safety?
Does everybody else use the debug camera to check there's nobody around before they lift off?
Should FDev start fitting ships with a rear-view camera?

Actually in this case you`re right. There are times when one needs to use commonsense and understand that maybe a guy can`t see what`s going on behind him and the guy who SEES him has to compensate for that guy.

I`ve actually seen this in other games- There`s a group of people (usually kids) who don`t understand that the other guy can`t possibly know or see a certain situation and then go crazy when the guy cuts them off or gets in the way.

I am VERY aware of my SA in most games, always watching out, but every now and then I`ll get some kid who gives me no time to see or avoid or even to say, "Sorry!" before he goes berserk and shoots me in the face!

Does anyone know if the new camera allows you to take off while it's active?? Would be much easier to check behind as you slowly take off and then flick back to cockpit view

I don't think you'd be able to push the 'launch' button (b/c it's a station interface, outside the ship).
As soon as you're released you could switch over though (before you thrust upwards very much at all)

1st: I have an issue when I am run into, inside the station. It does not matter if a am moving, stationary or come to a stop, when I see them coming. The station response is always the same; I get told to watch my flying and this I have a major issue with. I am not sure why this is the case; but it seems that I, the human player, has to move aside for ALL other NPC ships, large or small. This needs fixing, fair enough, if I run into something, slap my wrist in whatever way the game sees fit, but if I am run into, slap the other guy.

At the same time: There is no need to run into other ships. That round thing in the centre of the lower half of the HUD is a radar and shows us where every other ship is.

I raise off of the pad. Raise the landing gear, place myself at the right hight and on the green side and when I can see it is clear and no other ships are heading towards my flight path, I boost out of the station. The only issue I ever have, is human players that don't understand how to use the green side, in or out.

Enforcement of proper docking etiquette would be nice in high security system, actually make it a crime to fly like a give me another credit sink :p

Also i think its kind of silly we dont have rearview monitor
