"Docking request denied"

A sec ago, I was trying to land on KadenYuk Outpost, I requested permission to dock.

Denied.

Denied.

Denied.

After 20 times, Requested approved.

I was told to go to Dock 2. Now, I was able to already figure out to land, but this time the "*click* *click*" landing signal was absent. *vooooom scraped metal sounds* *vooooom scraped metal sounds*. Finally, I decided to Cancel Docking. Then, I request to dock. Go to Dock 2. Then, when I approach the pad again, the landing signal then appear on the cockpit monitor.

If you guys didn't figure it out, it is a bug. A bug where permission is given but landing pad is not available. Developer needs to fix this landing bug because it is confusing for newbies and those who trying to learn to Dock.

I agreed. If more people are playing Elite Dangerous, we are looking at fustrating traffic congestion forcing players to go some place else.

Hi,
Facing same issue with docking denied.
1. should we fly further out and come back then dock
2. are we suppose to leave the system and redock to the same LHS3447
3. or we are suppose to dock on the same system on another docking station and come back and dock back to the 1st docking station?

Enlighten us please

Here is something to consider
1. put a signal board outside the space station that will acknowledge if there is space available to land and how many (public toilet type situation).
2. we don't have to loiter the out parameter and risk attack from pirates and become easy target

The problem with these sites is that people do not know to drop down into the hangar helps free up landing pads.

True I did feel like shooting at one sidewinder that was just sitting there, but also saw at few occasions NPC just dancing on the platform for about 5 min.
But despite all this, I'm having a blast with this game.

I dont get why its so hard to log out into solo play, drop off what you need to or pick up...whatever...then log right back into open play. Why is this SO hard for people? It does NOT affect your game and it takes less than 30 secs...

Because this is an inconvenient workaround but not a solution for the problem. I want to play in a universe populated by players. Everything else feels like playing solitaire. This is why we want to be this officially recognized as a problem. Those Stations need more pads! It's as simple as that.

This is ridiculous!!! Is there anyway to get a refund of the game? I have now waited more than 25 minutes to be able to dock! I'm doing a mission and need to dock at one outpost. This is really stupid!! I didn't buy this game to sit outside a space station waiting. I don't have that much time to play computer games, so wasting my time just sitting here is FRUSTRATING!!! I will not recommend this game to others before this has been fixed, so now I have 8 other persons awaiting my status before they buy the game. If they don't fix this, they will start to loose a lot of players, and that fast... HINT HINT!

Switch to solo. Dock. Complete ya contract. Go open play again.....

I can't agree more with the posts above. The Phrase 'Docking Permission Denied' is now seared into my brain after only a few days since purchase. Other than the freezes, dodgy trading and far too easy NPC combat, this is my biggest issue with this game so far. Nearly every time I approach an outpost near LHS-3447, Ekonir, or any of the other main newbie systems it's the same story.

(I spend enough time sat in traffic in the real world! :D )

A better solution than shifting into Solo Play has to be implemented. Inevitably, as more people join, they will end up congregating in certain systems, not necessarily the starter ones either and this will only get worse as time goes on.

Yeah, more than 3 blibs on radar = solo for docking

I've had this happen fairly often when using outposts. Generally because there's only one or two medium pads and they are both taken. I think a big part of the issue is that a player can linger on a pad for a looooong time. I vote to have the timer for pad use (how long you can be on surface, not inside hanger) significantly reduced.

This is assuming that once you're inside the hanger proper you are no longer taking up the pad. I HOPE that's the case because I've AFK'd inside hangers before, for hours at a time >.<

Not sure if this is true or not. I've been denied docking at outposts with no one showing on the pads, only to have an NPC come out of a hanger and take off to clear a space for me (as they're programmed to do), which makes me think that ships in hangers may well be occupying pads.

Well! don't know if I have a record here? but I've been trying to dock for 40 mins now... ( what a waste of time and a complete ball ache)

Might've been a good idea to have the areas around the starter system have a few more stations instead of platforms, especially the nearest ones to the star. It would help ease new players in without making it look too obviously handcoded to be a starter area.

I have been so lucky with this game.

Almost every time I have been denied docking, was because I was too far away from the station. I find that at large stations, I need to be within 8 whatever's and outposts, within 6.

Outposts can be a problem, but usually a space opens up within four or five minutes, max. If it takes longer, which has only happened once, I will log out and back in again.

There ought to be a way to automatically disconnect the player when he/she's in the hangar. I'm sure most players pop off to make lunch etc and stay logged in. I certainly did, until I stumbled upon a post that explained we are actually clogging up the stations by not logging out.

Not disconnect, because number one, you're probably doing stuff at the station if you're active, and two, I like hearing real time noises going on in the station. But it does need to free that pad up for docking for someone else, and likewise restrict you from using it if they are landing.
