Newcomer / Intro does anybody know how to use the kill warrant scanner?

Here's what I do to make it fully automatic. Like this, it will do the scans while you're fighting, and it'll scan any ship that's in the middle part of your windscreen.
1.You should put it on your secondary trigger and have it in all fire-groups. If you want to use different weapons, put them all on the primary trigger and use fire-groups to change from one to the other.
2. Asiign trigger 2 to any switch or button that stays on. If you have something like an X52, that can be the slider or one of the rotational knobs. If you don't have anything like that, then assign it to the "-" key on the top right of the keyboad and put a weight on it.
3. As soon as you get to the combat arena (normally RES or CNB), sitch it on and leave it on. It used to be that if you changed instance thereafter, you had to reset it, but I've noticed recently that I didn't have to do that anymore. If it stops working, just switch it off and on again. be aware that if you use the comms panel and you have it assigned to the "-" key, it'll immediately start typing ----------------------, so you have to switch it off for comms then back on again afterwards.

That's it. You get about 20% extra bounty money at the local station. The rest (10%) you get from any Interstellar factor that you find at a station in a low security system. If you fam bounties in Gende, many of the KWS bounties are from a faction that has control of the station where the nearest IF is, so you can collect te money from them, then the rest from the IF. I don't know whether that's just a local anomoly or whether that's common. Wait until you have at least 10 mil in accumulated bounties before you go to the IF to make it worthwhile.

done that only the kill warrent scanner assinged and it still wont work but thank you for your answer

Then we (I) need more info. Start with a screenshot of your firegroup panel and a screenshot from your cockpit when you try to fire the KWS.

looks like that

Just as a test: move the KWS to the primary trigger and remove all guns from there. Depending on your bindings, I've read about people who had trouble with their primary/secondary fire button assignment.

As a cross check: if you put any guns on the secondary fire button, can you fire them?

Oh, and the cockpit screenshot, please.

Personally I have it in a separate fire group to my weapons. When I go bounty hunting I may well run into a Wing of wanted ships. I warrant scan them all first and then decide which target I'm going to start attacking. Once I've finished off one target I can move on to the next without having to rescan them. Basically I prefer the immersion of having the warrant scan be a separate activity from shooting rather than just trying to set things up so I can pretend like warrant scanning is automatic. I couldn't care less about the money really, I use the warrant scanner to enhance my bounty hunting experience.

Uhh...I put guns in the same firegroup all the time, so it scans as I shoot. 🤷‍♂️

I do, too, especially since I've engineered it for fast scanning (at the default 10 secs small ships would be dead before the scan finished), but as Ashnak said, if there is a problem you're better off tackling it with as few outside factors as possible.

With me having it set to auto scan anything targeted as well as being engineered for faster scanning the scan completes about the same time I find out the target is wanted in the system, I don’t, even after the changes, start shooting before then.

looks like that
That looks good. Make sure to target your enemy, deploy hardpoints, aim your ship at the enemy and hold down your secondary fire button. It takes ten seconds to complete the scan. If your guns are firing, it's because you're holding the primary fire button.

That works if you have an engineered rapid scan KWS, but I would have thought the 10 second scan one would be too incovenient and not very reliable. Surely, it would work much better to have it scan any ship that's targeted, whether you're firing or not.
