Does anyone else find this annoying?

Been doing my bit to kill Thargoids, and I thought I'd pick up a mission to break things up. Surprise! 20 minutes of stupid.

Same thing happened to me yesterday when I had a fed navy mission to massacre some pirates.

It said "mission objective detected" and the signal source was in the middle of deep space about 100kls from the primary star

This happened multiple times as I had to visit several signal sources to complete the mission

I agree but it seems that waste time for the sake of wasting time it is a core and unremovable part of the game that we should not question because gives the illusion of being optional, so better no question it.

The problem is that silly mission design. What the game is doing, is take the size of the system and place (almost) always the USS at 3/4 of system radius.
I check always how big is the destination system before i take the mission.

Mission USS can spawn any distance roughly equal (usually a little more) to the furthest celestial body from the primary star. So just avoid systems where that's the case.
An RNG mission generator that generates unfun experiences isn't a problem with the player not gaming the game on its quirky mission generation seeds. It is a design problem. 20 minutes of do nothing before game play is bad design. No objective person is going to say this is good design.
