Does anyone else play with the sound off?

It's probably a bit weird, but I started playing with no sound when doing a few stealth trade runs a day at work in between coding. :) Now I rarely even bother turning the sound up at home.

I find that sound is occasionally helpful in combat, but it's interesting that the game is designed in such a way that it's not a requirement.

Of course, the sounds are very nice when I think to turn them on. :)

Since I bought the soundtrack, I killed the in-game music. The Friendship Drive lady is not exactly an ear massage either so she's muted. I just wish there was a way to mute pulse lasers, they drive me nuts!

I don't think I'd be able to play fully muted though.

I always play with the in-game music muted. It's nice stuff, but gets repetitive after a while. I have started playing recently with no sound at all, and it's great for trading. For combat? Gotta be able to hear the pew pew.

When trading or exploring I turn the volume down and the music off so I can listen to podcasts etc. but I don't turn it off completely.

Music is off...so I can listen to my jazz or bossanova in pandora....that's until I hit next system...honk the horn of fate!!...and then need to turn everything off to listen to the planets in the system map...

The Sound engineering in this game is out of this world...period!

Music is not bad, it is just too scarce, and too repetitive after a while...

I muted the music ; I do love the music but I would like to put some custom music along with vanilla (but still have dynamic play list)
my stance is I switch between no music , only combat music and non.

But I allways keep sound on as its justified by lore and sounds the best

I can play a lot of games on "silent mode" as it were, but not this one. It's way too good to pass up, both in the big picture and the little details. I like that there's enough detail for me to be knowing what my ship is doing by the boops and beeps.

Usually, all sounds and music turned up to 11

Occasionally, music off with http://www.radiosidewinder.com/ on when I need to catch up on events.

Other times, all muted as a compromise with the wife. TV and gaming runs off the same machine...so convincing her to use the chrome cast while I play requires that I at least pretend to pay attention :D

I turned the music off day 1, Ive never heard the music. but have the sounds on loud.

I often play without sounds, because I'm watching something on the side. It's a shame though, because the audio is excellent. Well, I do play with sounds too.

Nah man, I love the sound in this game! If possible I play with a decent headset turned reasonably high and dim background lighting. Immersion! I don't worry about the "can't hear sounds in space" thing; clearly your ship synthesizes sounds from the sensor inputs, hence the deafening quiet when your canopy pops.

Do you have a nice headset/ pair o' headphones?

Yup, I do. :) It's more that I jump to a new system, hit X, switch to a different desktop and do some work, switch back and fly to a station, let the docking computer kick in, switch to a different desktop and do some work... The game is the bit that happens in between getting things done or reading forums. I'm not sure I could face the grind all in one go! Different with RES farming, of course.
