Greetings Commanders,
Does anyone know the current state of doing the rare goods weekly Power Play 2.0 task for credits? This was posted by FD on Nov. 18, 2024...

We have identified an issue where certain actions are being excessively used for Powerplay gains.
In order to investigate and resolve this issue we are temporarily suspending Powerplay gains via the following methods:

• Rare Goods Trading
• Settlement Data Delivery This is now enabled
• Escape Pods

Once we have resolved this issue these options will be enabled again.
Thank you for your continued reports and feedback on Powerplay 2.0.


After watching many tutorials (not very good ones) I tried 2 approaches and neither accrued merit points, though I was able to sell the rare goods.
If its working now and you are familiar with the process could you please create a detailed step by step list with pictures (or a video) on how to do the rare goods weekly task to get merits.

I would like to learn how to use the maps to aid in this process.

I know I speak for other returning and new commanders that are puzzled on how to correctly do it. Thanks!

The assignment itself should work, but merits from rares themselves still don't work.

For specific help, please screenshot or type out exactly what your assignment's title is.

The most confusing part of the process to me is determining where to sell the rare goods.
One tutorial said....

You have to sell the goods at a station (or ground landing area) in an Unoccupied system within (I believe) 30 light years of a stronghold system or 20 light years of a reinforcement system.

But I found using the maps to determine this was not clear to me.

Acquisition = an Unoccupied system within 30 light years of a Stronghold system (owned by your pledge) or 20 light years of a FORTIFIED system (owned by your pledge).
The black market does not count, so watch the legal status of your rares.

But as I said, Im not familiar with how to use the galaxy maps to determine where stronghold or fortified systems are located and then how to use the map to determine where in relation to them are the unoccupied systems (and at what distance.)

So far Ive only used maps to set a course from one place to another.

I found this tutorial that is only 3 weeks old so its info on Power play 2.0 should be current. He does a good job answering the question I posed in the OP.
