Does the station sometimes say the first 3 letters of your name?

When I approach a station it say, zulo, three, three approach the station, my ingame name is z33r0x, if this is the case, thats awesome.

Omg thanks so cool :D, this game has a such great sense of detail in it, thats why I love this game so much, too bad I can never relax when playing it, always have to be focused and stressed about it, at all time. I hope that multi-crew can help me out, allowing me to read my passanger mission beacons information and maybe galnet or what ever while they fly my ship back home.

Outposts do not hail you.

Regular (large) stations do, as well as most surface installations (seems all surface ones will hail you, I've yet to encounter one that didn't).

They always use the first 3 letters of your name, preceeded by the ship manufacturer of the ship you are flying.

E.g. if you are in an Eagle they will say:

Core Dynamics Zulu-three-three.

Its a nice touch. :)

In my case... DeLacy GOLF, OSCAR, LIMA, HEAVY. :) (Anaconda) I always like the Heavy part. Air Traffic Controllers here on earth use the same term to refer to large airliners and transports.

Why are you stressed all the time?

Ok cool, well Im glad that they implemented this, I noticed this just now for the first time, I have been playing a lot of elite, many hundreds of hours.

Re: Iskariot
You can't relax while travelling, if feels like I need to do things in a hurry, or I will overshoot or end up in the wrong way (you must control the ship at ALL times) or end up in the sun.

Try mining in an un-inhabited (pristine) ring. You can really go zen in there moving from one asteroid to the next and pretty decent profits. I like the dynamic between chilled mining and then the risky dash to the station to sell :D

Re: Alex Brentnall

Well I tried this as well, having a hard time with mining, though I love mining in other games, but asteroids depletes way too fast, and you can't engineer your mining tools :(, you mine out a rock in no time at all... I wouldn't mind if it took longer time mining but you could mine the asteroid for a lot longer, containing 10 times as much fragments and take a few minutes to mine. Hopefully they give mining some love soon, they haven't touched the mining aspect of the game in a really really long time. I would like to see engineering on prospector limpets increase amount of fragments in an asteroid by up to 1000% at grade 5. Collector limpets with an increased range or speed. Refinery should some kind of gain additional % extra per frag, when engineered it can seperate the minerals and metals better.

PROSPECTOR LIMPETS!!

Not only do they save you time by finding what you want to mine, before mining the rock... They also extend the yield of those rocks by a significant degree. If you are doing any serious mining work, then prospector limpets need to be part of your loadout.

Re: GG7

Yeah ofc I use the Prospector limpets A rated, but it's still not enough in my opinion. Also another things that bugs me is all those materials the limpets want to pick up, if you have full materials, then everyone just halt.

Those materials can come in handy when you least expect to use them. I got stuck in a hole of stars after a neutron jump and could not jump to any star within my jump range. It's only when I checked my FSD in the right hand panel that I realised I had enough materials to boost the FSD to get out of trouble. I had picked up those materials inadvertently while mining, so take them ... they are free and don't take up cargo space.

Reading posts like this remind me of how nice it is - in World of Warcraft, to hear about someone experiencing it for the first time and you get that gentle ooze of nostalgia.

Gentle Ooze of Nostalgia sounds a bit wrong - but you get what I mean :D

You'll get the hang of it
I recommend using neutron stars for big jumps.
