Does this game use the word "Bouncy Castle"?

If you want to stretch what Planet coaster was originally designed for (a theme park) and just make an amusement park or carnival, then yes I can see them there. However, at a carnival we would not have the huge coasters that have been made (they would be much, much smaller) and amusement parks would have big coasters, but not quite as large as theme parks (probably due to the smaller park size).

Okay, to be clear what exactly is the difference between a theme park and amusement park?(Outside of the obvious themeing that puts the theme in theme park)

I know that carnivals at least the ones I'm familiar with tend to be mobile(As in they set up in the middle of a street, or at a fair ground and normally don't stay in one place for more than a week or two, and thus tend to have only flat rides and midway games... Maybe a few food booths.

I don't think theres a difference between amusement parks and theme parks, I mean, I've been saying theme parks since I was younger for pretty much anything~ and thought Americans say "amusement parks" instead of theme parks, but with the bounce house / bouncy castle thing, and America apparently not using "house" or whatever, makes me wonder whether or not, I wouldn't be surprised at this point if Americans started saying sweets instead of "candy" and chips instead of "fries" hehe.

Anyway, as for the bouncy castle thing, it wouldn't hurt putting it in the game, so if frontier are thinking about it, go for it.
I do wonder how it'll work though, usually in such case with a bouncy castle, people pay and jump for 5 minutes, so are 10 or so people going to get on it at the same time, is it going to have a Que line? I'd find it odd if it did have a Que line.

I mean, the way I would go with it is have it part of a "fun house" pack, that has slides, ball pits, but with the ball pits, again... animations / physics of all the balls may be a terrible idea.

Since people like chaos in these games, you could perhaps allow an exceeding number of people into a Bouncy Castle and cause chaos. More people allowed = more fun but also more danger. Though I am unsure of long-term plans for the game in terms of modifying or upgrading rides. I'd imagine a Bouncy Castle with protection pads on the users could be a more exciting attraction.

There is a difference, Compare these two park maps
  1. The first is Busch Gardens Williamsburg - You can see how the rides and attractions are spread around and there is theming in various areas

  • France
  • Oktoberfest
  • New France
  • Germany
  • Jack Hannas Wild Reserve
  • Festa Italia
  • Italy
  • Scotland
  • Ireland
  • England

2. The now defunct Palisades Amusement Park which just had a collection of rides and attractions with no theming at all

Of course a lot of the amusement parks are long gone or have been converted to Theme Parks, like Six Flags New England which was originally Riverside Amusement Park just outside of Springfield Massachusetts and was converted to Six Flags in 2000.

I think everyone in the UK just says theme park, no matter the place, Adventure Island isn't really "themed" I don't think Drayton Manor or Oakwood are either.
The one thing I will take away from that is that bush gardens seems alot smaller than I thought hehe :3

It really doesn't matter whether PC is used for theme park, amusement park, or whatever.
It really depends on what the end-user decides to use his/her plot of land for.

You can say that to 80% of the UK's parks.

Not really, I mean, Chessington has its little Transylvania type area (with professor burps bubble works and The Vampire ride) it also has its Canyon / Western themed area with the Rattlesnake and minetrain coaster, and then the asian area with the log flume.

Thorpe Park has its Canada Creek, Calypso Quay and Lost City~

Legoland has Lego hahaha

As I said before:

Yeah, but I don't think that making an "Amusement park" would really be stretching things at all...
From what I know, it sounds like the difference between an amusement park and a theme park is that the theme park is themed, with more decorations and possibly more rides and attractions...(With many theme parks having starting as amusement parks when they first opened...)

Carnivals are a completely different animal than Theme parks and amusement parks as they move from place to place... (And thus to my knowledge do not have any roller-coasters at all... At least not any variety that can't be considered a flat ride...)

Asking for a bouncy castle isn't on the same level as asking for them to simulate the setup/breakdown and transport of a carnival...

And it's a pretty common ride in these types of games!! Especially at the start of games on the cheap.

there are so many description for jumps (as we call them at our company ), names such as moon jumps, moon bounce, bouncy houses, bounce house, moon walks, inflatable jumps or the name of the jump along with those descriptions, it is kinda crazy actually. In our company we have had these discussion for marketing purposes and as a company that rents these items, I can tell you we have discussions constantly on this very topic. It now comes down to what is the key word search for google? And being that is our now given reference to these products.

In the subject at hand thou , theme parks are theme type areas that give a sense of something familiar, thrill parks might have such, but emphisize on rides that make one get tense or experiance something out of the ordinary, while Amusement parks are usually temporary setups for slight amusements of their partons, be it from bounce houses or slides and or portable hard rides such as small version of zippers and or slides, ziplines etc.

Planet Coaster is definitively under the theme park genre , it's in it's core design to theme your rides and locations, one could argue that amusment parks can have coasters, yes but those are usually small portable types for kids, not the ones we are building in planet coaster, not even close.

I just found this video on youtube which illustrates my distinction between an amusement park and a theme park a little better, I hope. It is a video of an amusement park in Connecticut:

As you can see here the is little, if any, theming.

Are you sure you're not mixing up carnivals with amusement parks? When I think of portable rides I think of carnivals...(Like what they have at the state fair, or at various festivals.) The post above mine shows an "Amusement park" and that wooden coaster doesn't look like it's at all portable to me... (Neither does the little train ride...)

I was thinking the same thing. And besides that, you can ultimately do whatever kind of park you want. I don't think that Frontier is saying "You must only build theme parks." I'm sure people will build a pier amusement park when we get water.
