Does Voice Attack work randomly with everyone else?

I say, "Landing Gear" to deploy my landing gear and nothing happens. I say it again and the landing gear might deploy the second, or third, or manually when I get frustrated.

I've tried increasing the delay from .1 all the way to .4, but it still doesn't immediately respond. I'm out of ideas how to fix this.

VA is running as administrator and it's targeting the ED window.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Have you done the voice learning on VA? If not, or even if you’ve done it a few times, the more you do it the better it learns how you speak and will become more responsive. Mine works quite well other than distinguishing between 8 and delete. So I’ll prolly do a couple more of the voice learning sessions with it.

Have you tried training the voice recognition software to your voice? Also are you speaking loud enough or are you in a noisy environment? You may also want to check your microphone settings? I also find that, although VA will work when using desktop speakers, its best to use a headset.

Do the Windows voice recognition training 3 or 4 times. Use your normal speaking voice that you use while playing the game. I rarely have issues with VA not executing my commands the first time.

I completed the training 4 or 5 times and have 95% or more recognition ... before that I needed to say the command 2 or 3 times. Try training another one or two times. Good luck !!!

edit: I use the hyper x headset with mic.

I have this problem with voice attack if I don't use either my (excellent, supplied with my S7 edge) mobile phone hands free as a mic, or the oculus rift built in mic. It was when it worked flawlessly witht he oculus mic that I realised, it's just a mic quality issue. You need to be super close to your mic, anything less than a well positioned good quality studio mic, OR a good quality headset with the mic positioned close to the mouth results in pretty hit n miss results. I speak with almost a bbc accent, and I've trained it loads of times, still crappy with all the standing mics I've tried.

If anyone has any recommendations for standing mics that have worked for them, please do let me know, cos I basically hate wearing headphones when gaming casually.

True. When doing the voice training just speak naturally. Don’t try to annunciate more than you normally would. It may have you say a word a whole bunch of times during training but try to avoid the temptation of over annunciating to get by it.

Well said, it's very imoprtant when training, not to pretend you're reading the news, in fact, be a little sloppy and sometimes go a bit faster, liek you would when panicking in a game, oddly enough. lol.

Usually I've had to restart VA when that happens. Also make sure you HCS is up to date with 3.0. Make sure you dont have music or video playing in the background. That will confuse VA also.

I'm having a issue now where my breathing is cause some weird command that triggers VA to say pressuring, lowering landing gear, handing you the comms. I have no idea what that command is. Sucks cause it lowers my LG in the middle of a fight sometimes.

I use my Steel Series Arctis 7’s when playing, but used a Samson Meteor mic to train the voice. Haven’t had issues so perhaps the meteor mic is a good low cost standing mic.

Ever since I changed to Windows 10, no matter how many times I do the voice training I get the same result. I have gone through the training at least 14 times.

So instead, I use it with short cuts instead of by voice. When I need something to work, I don't want to have to say it more than once. It works every time with the short cut the first time. I still get the wonderful voice responses too.

Thanks I'll check it out. Care to estimate how far it is from your mouth in centimeters or inches?

There's a setting in VA called Confidence Level, or something similar. Slide it higher so it needs to be more confident that it recognized a valid word or phrase.

Hm, been a bit since I last used it for the voice training but if I had to guess I was probably about 1.5 to 2 feet from it when doing it. It has adjustable sensitivity so you can usually get a decent distance away if you’re in a quiet environment. It also has handy built in feet so you can stick it on your desk/table right next to you as well.

I'll never know... I don't want to talk to my computer to control my ship. It feels silly.

I use to have a home automation system that could turn on lights, televisions, stereos, lock and unlock doors and windows - all by voice command.

It was cool for a week, just a thing for another week, and by the end of the month, turned off.

It also was really annoying when I had a cold, as it had a hard time understanding what I wanted it to do.

I still have all the stuff for it, packed up in a couple of boxes, along with the software that ran it. It's likely to stay there for a very long time.

turn on showing confidence in log, you will then be able to see what it 'thinks' you said and how sure it might be on a trigger, I suggest if you do not have any confidence setting to set it on at least 80.

Sorry, I needed to be more specific. There is nothing wrong with recognition. The problem I'm having is that the key press isn't being sent or recognized by Elite: Dangerous. Using the keyboard or HOTAS binds work 100% of the time, though.

OP - basically yes. It seemed to work fine for me (over a year) until a month or so ago and now it seems to please itself.

I posted a similar thread a little while ago and have tried pretty much everything you will have been recommended here. No success.
