Does / will Elite support Windows Mixed Reality VR?

I'm going to a Microsoft, Windows Mixed Reality demo event in a couple of weeks. The headsets will be on sale soon, and the Fall Creators Update will support this when it's released in just a week's time.

I've heard nothing yet though about whether Elite Dangerous will support Windows Mixed Reality. I know WMR supports Steam VR, but I didn't buy my copy of the game through Steam, I bought it directly from Frontier.

I'd like to buy a WMR headset, but there's much less point if I can't use it to play Elite in VR. Can Frontier respond to this question please?

Thanks :)

You can get a key from your Frontier account and install the Steam version of ED. At this point there are so many unknowns with these devices, but I hope Frontier has a plan to support all future VR devices.

This doesn't guarantee I'll be able to use a WMR headset with the game though. I don't get why Frontier haven't said anything, one way or the other :/

I read that SteamVR support for these devices is being worked on and should be released around Christmas if all goes well. If that is the case then the WMR HMDs will work with Elite via SteamVR.

When it supports SteamVr I don't see it working any less than the HTC Vive would.
I don't have ED installed in steam either, or fair few games for that matters that would rely on mods for VR, like minecraft or the Doom 3 BFG edition.
For use with the vive I then simply start Steamvr, then launch the regular launcher with VR settings applied. Edprofiler for instance is a nice way of setting this before having to actually launch the game first.

Most cases when starting a VR aware game it will prompt the launch SteamVR as well.
