Don’t bother with Odyssey

Thanks for the info re the NVidia Shield TV Pro as id never heard of it, ive looked into it and seems a better option by far, just a couple of questions before i order one please -
1) Do i just need an HDMI and Ethernet cable?
2) I have an existing NVuidia account linked to STREAM will the Shield TV Pro work the same as on XBox by linking me straight to my STREAM account?
Any other bits of info you think would be useful to me please?

I on the other hand recommend you buy it even if you don't do foot combat (which I don't) simply because of the experience of walking around atmospheric worlds and settlements.

I played ED on Xbox One for years and thoroughly enjoyed and was devastated when Frontier said Odyssey would not be available to consoles but looked into it and discovered Steam and GeforceNow so went through a difficult (I am not computer aware) time but finally got to play Odyssey via my XBox One via GeforceNow and Steam but am so dissapointed, what a waste of time and money, Odyssey is not the game I loved, it’s a joke, so not worth the hype, the best game is now a pathetic joke so I will cancel the GeforceNoe subscription and say goodbye, thanks for nothing Frontier!!!!!

It is, in fact, exactly the same game, you can just ignore the bits you don't like just like with any expansion and continue to play it just like you played Horizons, only with more planets and more bio and more space thargoids and etc. The game hasn't changed, it has been added to, the additions aren't compulsory!

As a long time Elite player who been here since 84 and with ED since 2014 i can say Odyssey might not be for everyone but does allow for more freedom when exploring out in the black. I would have loved to see some on foot mining abilities (you still need a srv to pick up stuff from surfaces etc) but its nice to have the option to explore on foot.

I wouldnt dismiss the entire expansion off hand i would say look at the videos of it and see if you would be interested in it and if it peaks your interest take the plunge :)

Still playing it exactly how I used to, just extra planets for me!
I would play now that it's all downloaded and hotas all set up ready to go but it only shows on my TV at 720p. On xbox it was full 4k.
Other games and apps on laptop show 1080p it's just ED that will only run at 720p even on highest settings

If it only shows up as 720p on your TV, yet all other games play at 1080p on laptop and 4k on Xbox suggest checking what HDMI cable version you are using between PC and TV. If you are using a Standard HDMI cat 1 it will only do 720p on your TV, you need the cat 2, the HDMI High Speed cable, that will do 4k at 30hz. Depending on what refresh rate you want you may need to go with a cat 3 or 4 HDMI cable which will do 60hz and 120hz respectively! That is the usual problem when people find they are stuck at 720p. They connect the Xbox with the cable that comes with it, which is usually a cat 2, but just use a standard HDMI for PC to TV. HDMI cables are not all the same.

It wasn't the cabling or Hz issue I hadn't selected the right resolution in the menu 🤦‍♂️🤣
I left it in the default mode lol

Transferred over last weekend, and Brought odyssey for £16 when it was on sale on steam.

Takes awhile to get use to the new ui but I would recommend.

The transfer took 30m and I've got everything including dw2 decal and the xbox gpp from 2016 decal. Which is kinda funny.

Think frontier have gotten about 50£ out of me now.

Only bad experience I've had is almost falling off my chair at the price they are charging for odyssey cosmetics

As Ive stated previously, i only play ED and as i couldnt afford, or justify, the purchase of a gaming PC to play just one game and thanks to members on this forum I learned of GeForce Now being playable on my XBox via Microsoft Edge, so purchased EDO on Steam, linked all the accounts, purchased the monthly middle tier of GeForce Now graphics (as the top tier doesnt make any difference over a web browser such as Edge) and was very dissapointed with the very poor graphic quality so stopped playing, then, again thanks to members on this forum, i learned of Nvidia Shield TV Pro so purchased one of these, puchased the monthly top tier of GeForce Now graphics and tried EDO again, what a diference, the graphics are equal to ED on my XBox so now play EDO, wirelessly and on my 4k TV for app. £20 a month which equates to app. 8 to 12 years of playing compared to purchasing a £2k to 3k gaming computer and as im 72 it was a no brainer, thanks everyone, i can thoroughly recommend playing EDO via Nvidia Sheld TV FYI.

the only problem i have is how frekin demanding on the system (GPU) foot bits are .u run the game using invidea image scaling (NIS) and overclocked my 1050ti (took 3 hours btw) i still canrt even hit 60fps on foot lol but flying is smooth and fast at 60 in stations and all . so maybe they could tone down the gpu demand i mean games done that b4 like cyberpunk, battlefield, red dead 2, etc.
