Don't get an FDL (unless engineered it seems)

You'd think an FDL would rule the roost in PvE when A rated, right? That's what I thought. So I spent all my money on equipping this beast, bar engineers, and....

Anaconda and Pythons out turn me whatever I do, bar FA off, which yes, I don't do but still, I should be out turning them. Then, they have twice my firepower, oh, and my shields mean nothing. Waste of money of money if you ask me.

My old Vulture could at least out turn them, so think I'm going back to that. Why do you need to engineer an FDL to be good in PvE I'll never know.

Rant over.

The Vulture is easy mode.
It ask little of you to kill stuff.
The FDL requires a bit more skill to flight in a decent manner...
I really suck as a pilot by the way.

And that's my problem. I'm just angry at wasting my time. Going back to the vulture isn't too bad really, I loved that ship.

Nobody asked my opinion but... I have both and both are situational combat ships. the fdl kills quicker, the vulture is easier to kill with (if that made any sense). for me the fdl is catch 'em kill 'em, the vulture is hit and run, repeat until their gone. pilot them totally different and their both very effective combat ships

want to know how i know that you dont use the vertical thrusters at all?

try using those along with the straffing thrussters. fdl is a beast even if you dont toggle the flight assist just have to pilot it correctly

also try using a class 4 gimbled mc, two class 2 pa's and two class two frag cannons

FDL requires heavy pip management. It pitches like a lead sled unless you throttle down to the blue zone and put 4 pips to engines. The medium hardpoints have poor convergence and the huge hardpoint has a very limited field of fire.

Since you like the Vulture, try an FAS... basically a Vulture on steroids.

See that's where I must of gone wrong, using an FDL like a vulture. Sounds like the FDL loves PAs and railguns, not lasers and multicannons, but correct me if I'm wrong.
