Don't time the release of Horizons with Fallout 4

I love Fallout! I'm looking forward to Fallout 4 and I know it will be great! I'll play both games, but I don't know, maybe I'm getting old, I'm MUCH MORE excited about Horizons! I already said it, it's my personal "holy grale" this year!

Exactly. Horizons looks to be amazing, I can't wait to fly a sidey screaming down a tight canyon. Given that it will be at least a month before FO4 is playable for more than 10 minutes at a time, I'm going to get my fill of offworld offroading :)

I just want Fallout 4 to be out and done with so Bethesda can get on with the main event, TES6.

Love Skyrim, but know it to well now. Hopefully TES6 will be in the rift as well.

Until then elite will keep me quite content for my sandbox requirements.

Looking forward to Fallout IV, and it probably will be my biggest time sink in November. They can't do game mechanics or write decent story quests, but you can't fault Bethesda on world-building and exploration, and the mod community usually fixes a lot of the glaring issues very quickly.
.
Horizons? I'm half expecting an announcement on multi-crewed ships today. Also, I really loved tooling around in the Mako in Mass Effect. Hoping for more of the same. Video please! :)

So many people took it so seriously i almost stopped bothering with the thread. If update 5 is supposed to be out before horizons, then even with beta i assumed most people knew nothing would happen until after christmas let alone in the next month. I totally agree on mass effect, infact i actually rebought the game for the third time just to mess about with the mako...really forgot how different it was to the later games.

Multi-crew ships though...i never even considered, it would be a real out of the blue announcement.

Weirdly I was comparing Bethesda with FD in a conversation about the decline of video games last night.
For my money Bethesda hit the sweet spot with Daggerfall and even though I have played and enjoyed Morrowind, Oblivion (heavily modded) and Skyrim, the direction they decided to go since Daggerfall was a shame. I really hope FO4 is not going to make the same mistakes of simplifying, dumbing down, balking at simple yet important game-defining differences. I have high hopes though. FO3, New Vegas is still a stand-out game for not going down that route.
In my mind FD made very similar mistakes with ED. The original Elite broke boundries, was bold and innovative not just technically but in how it treated it's players and that was great. The kickstarter ED seemed to be intending to do this but it has not turned out. ED is technically innovative and amazing but the way it treats it's players has gone down the Daggerfall --> Skyrim route. Understandable but an enourmous missed opportunity, especially given that the reason (I believe) most kickstarter backers ponied up money was to fund a game that would not make this mistake, for once.
Anyway, yeah A lot depends of if FO4 makes the same mistake as ED in this regard, for me anyway.

I've not liked Fallout since it turned from RPG into FPS. Also, you don't know squat about mutants 'til you've been down my neck of the (red) woods...

Meeting the bloodsucker for the first time in Agroprom is possibly *the* scariest moment in gaming for me. At the very least it's a stand out moment. *Waits patiently for the Directors Cut of Lost Alpha*.
.
Now if Horizons lets us find ice-encased creatures on planet surfaces that thaw out unexpectedly in the hold of the ship whilst you're travelling back to civilisation... :D

I am going to have allot of fun playing fallout 4, but am I going to play it for +10 years like I am planning to do whit Elite or like how I did whit Eve online? probably not

There have been a couple of video interviews where: a) in a discussion of Horizons the designer (forgot name! ack!) said his favourite feature of Horizons *wasn't* even planetary landings, and b) when asked about piloting ships in a separate convention, another member of Frontier's staff (sorry, terrible with names!) just said "we'll change the way people view and respond their ships". So I thought 2+2 = 5. :D. Really should have kept the links to the videos.

And I'll be surprised if Horizons makes it before Xmas - though they do have form for pushing things out of the door quickly at holiday season. :)

Moved to 'Off Topic' as this thread is about Fallout 4.

Trying to drag it back to Horizons! Honest!

I've no interest in the Fallout games - so I fail to see how launching Horizons at the same time as Fallout 4 is in anyway problematic for me or for FD.

I have too much ADHD to focus on one game and unless they have done something NEW with Fallout then I'll wait.

I have too many games I wait for.

Star Citizen (part 1 should be done by March 2016)
Elite Horizons
No Mans Sky
Subnautica
Mordheim
Some other space game I backed on kickstarter

While i play elite daily...

DONT

coincide any part of horizons with the release of fallout 4....im afraid you just wont win this one.

Make the meetings now if it does and knock it back by atleast a month as its going to be bad enough with trying to remember the missus' name and the little people that fell out of her when im done let alone learning how to use my elite controls once more.

Finished playing Witcher 3, and I needed a new game while I wait for FDev to create any content. Do I need to have played Fallout 1-3 to get 4?
