General / Off-Topic Dooomed, I Tell You!

Hard !

I remember when I got 11 stitches on my skull after a fall.

After the 6th or 7th stitch, the anesthesia faded.

The rest was done like this and the skull is hard to pierce.

🤕
Ouch. Cranial work sucks. I used to volunteer for a non-profit that served persons who had been injured like that. We helped place them with homes and jobs. Maybe my life has been worth it.

I also rescued fellow dogs, but that's another tale... :)

Pain now down to level two. Only the needle injection sites are truly hurting. Bleeding is still slowing. Note: I was on antibiotics for five days prior, and am taking them now. Saline rinses working well.

An adjustment, and removal of sutures is coming up Friday. Enough time to cool off. Open! :(

Just occurred to me. What if the dentist had Frontiers community management, and loyal supporters on a forum... Would they get away with it? :)

Lower dental plate bleeding has effectively halted. Pain level now 1. Waiting on upper molar, which was the most severely affected. Bleeding now minimal.

My dentist was very professional, and called to check up 24 hours after the procedure.

He was quite impressed by my progress, and attention to detail. The dentures were removed and cleaned, to give the gum tissue rest. Only bleeding now is from the upper back molar slots.

Solution: Tea bags.

How British. They do work. Pain level is 0.5.

Dentures to go back on tomorrow morning. Removed at night. Sutures to be removed Friday. The protein drinks are working out well. Saline washes for everything else.

Nap time.

How do the new teeth look? Are you happy with the result?
They look far superior to the decaying originals. All my medical pro's, friends, and family are glad I've done it. The danger of disease with the old teeth in place was far too high. Additionally, my appearance has improved, and my diet and speech will as well. An adjustment of several months will be needed, but the result is worth it.

Kind of like totally re-coding Elite. :)

All the bleeding has halted, and the gums/bones are resting now. It was just a little riskier and painful than initially anticipated. My long years of military and medical experience paid off in planning, and in the post-op recovery. My poor dentist didn't anticipate Omaha Beach... I planned for Guadacanal/Okinawa.

All bleeding has halted, less minimal seepage. Tissue looks good, with only minor swelling. No signs of infection. Anti-inflammatory measures are working as planned. Diet planning, rest, and ample supplies and preparations have done their work. Pain level has declined to 0.25.

I'm just such a plodder of a US NCO, turned field-grade. Soooo boring. So over-prepared for Murphy's Law. Such an old, cowardly poodle. Such a scrub- just not worthy of playing in Open. :)

I should note that my Mom took such good care of herself (USMC/forty years in nursing), she only had to spend one week in the health care system. That, and my dog as the perfect sentry for emergencies. I'm nothing compared to her.

They are "up there" constantly having fun at my expense. They enjoyed the heck out of this dental panic. "See, Gramma, it worked! Daddy panicked! Hehehehehe!".

Dentures back in. Pain went back to level 1. Swelling injection sites, and one very deep extraction on an upper front left toot. It will take another twenty minutes of maintenance a day. Initial piano is sharp for the first ten to twenty minutes. Need gauze and tea bags to support structure and control minor seepage. Meds are on schedule.

Not like Frontier. :)

Like Elite, there is a very steep adjustment curve. Just have to deal with it. Learned this in the military.

Call me a snowflake at this- way past sixty. :)

This might make me restart my alt account, for long-duration exploration. I would play only when I felt well, and sharp enough. Ideal for long runs into the black. No grinding.

Another friend brought me three cases of Ensure from Sam's Club. Since I can't chew, even with my dentures, this is a godsend. Bless him.

It's almost like third party developers for Elite! :)

Dentures now out for 12 hour rest period. The gums and bone need it. Minor seepage. Pain now back down to 0.5. May actually play something other than Elite, since it was time for my meds. Too weirded out for anything complex. No grinding to burst sutures. Sorry, Frontier, you had your chance in September. :(

T-plus 48 hours. Sutures starting to close up. Minimal seepage. Gums slightly inflamed from 12 hours of dentures. Antibiotics and anti inflammatory meds are working. Saline rinses every hour. Pain now down to 0.25.

Does Frontier plan like this? :)

Just counted thirty or so deep injection sites that are still pain point sources, and are slightly inflamed. They are heck when the dentures go back on. Good thing for the heavy meds, and saline washes. These are deep-tissue/bone sites that show how extensively they had to work on the jaw bones and gum tissues. Non-trivial, professional work, for a challenging procedure. All without general anesthesia, and a conscious patient talking it all in stride. No necrosis or infection, just over strained tissues. They will recover over the next two days, if protocol is followed.

I hate being an informed, prepared patient. I pre-planned for this. I had a support network set up weeks before. I had my schedule set out for things going wrong.

What if Frontier had planned this? :(
