Dove Enigma UA bombed, preventing completion of its voyage in time for the man it was named for.

why is everyone complaining about this? this is a game mechanic. they don't say nothing about pirates or griefers but when somoene does something against them they go like "muh expeditian got sabotaged, put the sabotagers names on a list so we can them up/ban them from the game". it's a bunch of crybabies, shut your mouth and deal with it. i was never a fan of being able to steal player's cargo or attacking them for no reason, but it seems that everyone defends it as being a legitimate game mechanic. well you got . bad for you. stop whining and move on

I'd suggest you go and read why the ship exists in the first place.

So can we change the thread title already? The ua bombing isn't
It's just a sensational title with a false premise.

Depends what the completion mission entails. Closing the bar at the Dove Enigma would certainly deny one of the objectives.

But I guess only a mean grinch would point that fact out ;)

Someone help me understand why the UA bombing of the megaship Dove Enigma matters? How does this impact the actual expedition in any way shape or form? Was the megaship going to be going on the expedition, too? Because last I checked there was no movement capability built into the megaships; they are allowed to "jump" a certain distance each week when Frontier manually moves them from one part of the galaxy to the other. Which means UA bombing should have no impact on the Dove Enigma's ability to move. And you can still dock at it whether it's in lockdown or not. Sooooo - UA bombing affects this HOW?

I'm pretty sure this has ZERO impact on anything having to do with the Enigma Expedition. Prove me otherwise, forum.

It's in the same sort of vein as peeing on a memorial. It might not do any damage but it's hardly a good thing.

A massive well done to all those helping restore order to the good ship Dove Enigma.

So things were said by Dove Enigma in the heat of the moment and during a period of great hardship, I won't judge as I'm unsure how I'd have reacted.

This is a big deal for Dove Enigma and all the CMDR's who choose to support his cause. The fact that one or several degenerates decided to do this says plenty about them, but the actions of those CMDR's such as Zulu Romeo and the Hutton Truckers speaks in greater volumes.

We have a mission and that mission is to join DE in Colonia. I've traveled back to the bubble from the Western Meridian to take part in the full journey and will be returning to the Western Meridian after Sunday to continue on the Dead End Circumnavigation. I'm delighted to have been able to give up my time in support of and solidarity for Dove.

Those that undertook the actions to disable our wonderful ship have only brought us closer together and although it was not their aim, they have helped raise the profile of this mission and thereby a significant part of our campaign, to raise awareness of skin cancer. So to those that bombed. Yes you did. For we have risen, for we have answered the call and your efforts, feeble though they are, have only made our cause stronger and our participants more determined.

Peace out.

I just wonder aside from the whole discussion in this topic in what world do you live?

Because in the world as I know called earth the lost of people if not most are butholes ( gently speaking ). So the whole situation here in video game not surprise me.

I can't really argue with your point. I agree that there is a disproportionate amount of A Holes out there compared to 30 years ago.

I blame the parents of my generation, for preventing their kids from eating dirt, or even playing outside. It messed with their immune system and caused some unexpected mutations in their "compassion" gene. ;)

Not to mention opening them up to a whole host of maladies us kids of the 60s never had to deal with.

It all comes down to eating mud pies when you're 5! :D

Let me ask again, if you travel 100's of LYs to help and FD fix the problem in the morning, what would you say?

If this makes it to the mainstream press I wouldn't want to be the FDev employee who didn't take action as soon as they heard about it. You think the Daily Mail is going to care whether UA bombing is the game operating as intended?

If the mainstream press considers video game drama to be newsworthy, I will have even less confidence in the media than I do right now.

Ha Ha! The Daily Mail doesn't care about Elite Dangerous! ... it's an English game!

This is going too far now!

Agree its not a right thing to judge given his situation. He reacted to a blatant provocation dressed up as a "civil" comment - it was intended to get a reaction which makes it even lower than some of the other comments made. The amount of sanctimony on this thread from people lacking any empathy is ..... i would have said surprising but having thought about it...... its the usual suspects.

Nice to see that the majority here and elsewhere are pulling out the stops to reverse the effects of the UA attack. Best reaction is just to get on with it.

Well... This escalated quickly, god I'm ashamed to play Elite today.
Back in the day this would have led to a community event to save the Dove with hundreds if not thousands of us trekking to fix it up and complete the mission. Sure we would have been a bit angry but we would have set it right because we could.

Now all I see is both sides disgracing themselves with various comments/actions and frankly I want to wash my hands of all this nonsense. Neither side has much moral high-ground left.

Take a look at the Fuel Rats, they are often held up as the best of Elite, the reason being, we make use of what we have. We always go above and beyond.

When Neospike got stranded with a broken fuel scoop we didn't complain to FDev that reboot+repair should fix the scoop. No we went and filled him up.
When Macedonica got stranded we didn't complain that systems didn't have FSD mats on landable planets and ask FDev to add some, no we went and mined some.
When Jaques mis-jumped to Colonia not Beagle we didn't complain, no we got on with it and build the 2nd bubble (with a lot of support I'll add).
When limpets speed got nerfed in a patch by about -50% we didn't complain, we got better and faster to maintain our 96% success rate.
When numerous players got stuck without FSD mats or an SRV we didn't complain we simply mined for them and got them to scoop from their ships.
When Persera got stranded beyond the reaches of everyone else we didn't complain it was too far, no we got on with it and rescued her.

We make suggestions for improvements to wings, instancing, limpets, beacons, materials, SRVs etc but that doesn't stop us doing things now. When things are possible we do them.

In this case for this problem it can be fixed by in game means. So lets get on and damn well do it.
If the system needs to be changed or the mega-ship with the black market or whatever thats an issue for after. Right now lets fix the problem because we can fix it ourselves.

As Zac said the Devs are looking into if it was an exploit. If it was then sure, be indignant, have a go and vent or whatever. If they come back and say no, it was legit then the above stands: Go fix that problem.
Then when it's fixed and over put a request in and the story and explain why in the future black markets on things like this need to be re-thought. Make other community groups aware so they can raise the issue about their own mega-ships. But don't whine and complain and do nothing when you can fix it.

Whilst usually I'd be right on side with the expedition as I have been many times in the past the response to this from both sides has disgusted me.

As always stay tuned for more messages from the defender of the middle-ground, now going to bed rather irritated. Thanks all..

Edit: Yes I know many are doing things and I highly respect those that are but the whole blaming FDev and other comments are what i'm annoyed about. Yes tempers and emotions are high but come on. Back in the day it'd have been "how much better was that event because the whole community turned up in support at the end". Now its "why didn't you forsee the unforseen FDev, you don't care about us etc".
The war of Lugh springs to mind as one of these events as do many other events where we rallied round and showed the best of the community and united. The way this has turned out has had the opposite affect and divided the community. I'm sure those responsible are really getting a kick out of this which is another irritation.

I imagine a group of masked losers busting in to a Muscular Dystrophy Telethon and throwing rotten garbage and human waste at the presenters, the kids at the phones and the supporters in the audience.

In 2018, I don't doubt for a moment that there would actually be those handful of "people" who would attempt to defend their actions.

More than likely the same ones defending the UA Bombing of this "soon to be" memorial in the game.
