I kind of feel like there should be a separate thread for people motivated to help out with this, so we can pass important information back and forth without it getting drowned out by other things. Anyone else think it's a good idea?

Canonn already have hundreds of Cmdrs on their way (myself included), as well as lots more outside of the group. It's a game mechanic, it was used, we are countering it. Simple as that.

You hit the nail on the head. Some are wearing the "good guy" cloak and spewing vitriol. All the while not lifting a finger to undo the damage.
While others are actually doing something.
I read in a comic, a long time ago about a theory that Theodore Roosevelt knew Pearl Harbour was going to be attacked. He allowed it to happen, because at the time the sentiment in America was against the war. Pearl Harbour changed that, and of course the rest is history. I don't know if that story is true, and quite frankly I don't care. The point was that sometimes actions which may seem quite clear cut have larger implications that it's not really possible to judge.

I gave a private o7 to more altruistic CMDRs and carried on doing my own thing. Now I'm at Jameson Memorial tweaking my 'Conda for what will be the longest trip I've ever taken in ED.
I don't know what DoveEnigma thinks about all this. I presume he'll be playing ED whenever he is able and feels like playing. A journey that probably would have been legendary, but which has now become an epic journey. Not because of the actions of "good" or "bad" people have done, but because it made people spend their time, one way or another, doing something for another human being. And time, no matter how rich or poor you are, is the most valuable thing any of us have.
I might not make it to Colonia. The UA bombing might not be reversed. That's not important. What I felt and what I did is.

I don't understand why you're not getting this: I'm not talking about the cancer dude's suffering. I'm talking about people saying nasty things and pretending they're good. I haven't criticised the charity, or dictated suffering, or any of the things you keep coming back with.
Haha, I did read it, the basis for my criticism is how many people demanded action and spoke for someone without bothering to check with them first. Perhaps you should read posts too.
Oh I'm doing something... I've got plenty of media contacts that are being made aware of this... once I did that, the CM from FDev said they are "internally investigating."
I'm doing the human thing by supporting someone who said this really hurt him, and getting developer response.

New Mechanic for Emergent Game Play
If a station gets UA bombed, let us buy the name of the CMDR from some unscrupulous party at said station. Or just have the ships faction give out missions to hunt them down. Please and thank you.

There was already a post earlier detailing Dove’s official response from Reddit, but it was quickly buried by posters here snipping at one another.
That's not even sort of the point. The entire existence of this station is a gigantic deus-ex-machina, and it being provisioned with a black market was almost certainly unintended.
You realize that normal human beings can think people who disrupt charity events are terrible garbage people, and take action to counter the damage, right?
I do get that. It's the basis for my criticism. The criticism isn't that he was hurt however, it was how he was being treated by the people claiming to support him. As I said, the one's wishing Dove's suffering and death on anyone who disagrees were my favourite. Wonderful support.
the "appropriate" action should be on the part of FDev, which they are looking into according to a CM.
