This guy is insufferable but this video is pretty cool. Forrest Gallante talks about the Thylacine:

This is almost my dream Oceania pack. I would only change the grey kangaroo for an Australian pelicanIf we revisit Oceania, there are three must haves for me:
- Tasmanian devil
- Emu
- a Wallaby!
Wallabies are super common in captivity in zoos around the world, when I visit a zoo I sooner expect to see a wallaby than a kangaroo. So for me, if we revisit Oceania, the animal pack would be:
1. Tasmanian devil, representing Tasmania.
2. Emu, the iconic Australian land bird.
3. Kiwi, representing New Zealand.
4. Exhibit animal: Tuatara, also from New Zealand, representing a new reptile type.
5. a Tree kangaroo, from New Guinea.
and some more marsupials from Australia, because there's never enough marsupials:
6. Wombat, basically a cute furry ground koala.
7. a Wallaby species, such as the Bennett's wallaby or the Yellow footed rock wallaby.
8. either a Wallaroo or a Grey kangaroo. I'd prefer the Eastern grey kangaroo for the last slot, as it is so different from the red kangaroo and would be a nice way to finalize our kangaroo roster, giving us a small, medium, and large species in the wallaby, grey kangaroo, and red kangaroo.
Example:
The thing is, marsupials are THE species associated with Australia and only found there. Whereas deer are found all over the world. Marsupials can't be included in other region based DLC, they can only come in Australia / Down under / Oceania DLCs. So that's where they'll need to be. That's why there will never be too many marsupials in this DLC. Whereas deer can come in any DLC, so 3 deer in one DLC would indeed be overkill. So I don't think this is a fair comparisonThree roos in a pack is really too many and really cuts a majority of our most notable species represented in zoos in Australia. I would be upset if 3 roos were added. It would be like adding 3 types of deer or 3 types of otters to a single DLC pack.
I recently revised to an alternate pack which is just Australian animals and came up with this conbo which would fill the niche perfectly if there was only one Australian pack left.
So so close! Just change the grey for a platypus and it’s perfect for meIf we revisit Oceania, there are three must haves for me:

I'd be fine with a platypus too! But they're so rare in captivity and so difficult to keep, often dying rather quickly, that I don't include them in my lists anymore these days and would rather see species that are easy to keep in captivity, that do well in captivity, or are frequently seen in captivity. So so close! They’re recent to captivity outside of Australia but they are doing it! They’re in San Diego zoo and Australia is actively trying to move them to more worldwide zoos but the pandemic slowed their progress. Platypuses would be fine to add!I'd be fine with a platypus too! To your question: No, but for other reasonsDo you use pangolins or proboscis monkeys in your zoos?
Personally I would find it strange to arbitrarily exclude platypus from your zoos in PZ and still use pangolins and proboscis monkeys (they are also hard to keep in captivity).
I understand your perspective. Platypus might take away from the realism, but if that is the case then so does having pangolins and proboscis monkey.
Do you know if they are currently kept successfully in captivity? As in, the animals doing well? They’re recent to captivity outside of Australia but they are doing it! Yea they are! They’re breeding and everything! It’s similar to proboscis monkeys were they figured out why they weren’t doing well and worked on it!Do you know if they are currently kept successfully in captivity? As in, the animals doing well?

Again, I'm fine with the platypus. They're cool! It wouldn't be my personal pick for a DLC, but if they were included I'd probably use them in my zoos.
I think people are opposed to things because the game won’t last forever and the unfortunate reality means if one thing is included another will be excluded. So they are advocating for those spaces to be saved for things they want as opposed to what they don’t want. People might also have ethical concerns (orcas for example) or think that as there are other extinct animal games Planet Zoo should focus solely on living species. The only thing I don’t want are extinct animals and even they would be fun. I don’t know why people are so opposed to stuff. Aquatics and aviaries would shake up building and really add to the fun factor of the game. I get it realism and all that but cetaceans and aquariums are realistic. And planet zoo has never been concerned about realism in the past. (Keepers walking into lion habitats) I understand people don’t want the dev time to go into certain things but idk actively being against it seems harsh to me. Like there’s others that genuinely want the things they want. The game would attract so many people if they shook it up sooner. I just really want PZ to thrive
I get it but I think it actively hurts others from speaking out with their ideas because they feel like the whole community is against them. I know we’re all able to say what we want and what we don’t but I feel like sometimes people are little harsh sometimes. Great choices, i would maybe choose the platypus instead of the echidna (i want both though lol)To fill the remaining slots for the oceanic region. Here are the ones I think we'll fit. This would be an 8 pack since there had already been themed items released.

I really wanted to at the platypus as it is my fav Aussie animal, however I went for the Perentie because of a lack of reptile habitats, I would be totally ok with a platypus instead of Perentie.
