Drunk Flying

I'm assuming there's no Pilot's Federation rules against flying after a few pints of stout. I'll stipulate that I'm well away from populated space, and not in any way impeding station traffic, but I have to admit that I'm flying a bit tipsy at the moment.

I'm hoping there's no citation ...

As long as you dont drink and fly at DW2.. ;)

I'm drunk flying right now.. 120 jumps from Sagittarius A.

Only 3 emergency stops so far...

Amazingly I haven't run into a planet yet ... I'm drinking 8.3% stout at the moment, and 4-ish pints in ... in relative terms, that's death in American beer terms, strong in Canadian beer terms, and I think "just a pint" in British beer terms lol

Ya, I'm totally not making any promises ... though I do promise to try not to crash ...

And in my defense ...

I'm flying a DBX at the moment, so it's not like I'm operating heavy machinery or anything, at least in terms of ED ships :)

"Death in American terms"? Pfft... go look up Stone Brewing, 8.3% is weak. I drink American Barley Wines at 12%. =D

Outch!

Well I originate from Bavaria, beer has more to it than just the numbers...
It's mre about the quantity

It should be more about the quality. :p

Drinking 2 litre steins of German urine (sorry, lager) does nothing for me, but give me a third of a pint of some rediculous 12% imperial stout and I'm happy. :)

Back on subject, I have been guilty of drunk flying myself on several occasions. Early in my ED career I was hauling imperial slaves (they signed up for it - sort of - so I'm not evil right?) in my old T6 when I drunkenly thought it would be a great idea to boost out of the station. I went straight into the wall of course, thus ending the lives of 100t of poor imperial slaves (and more importantly, costing me a million credits in cargo!). You'd think such a tragedy might make it onto GalNet but nope, not a mention.

Later on, whilst I was exploring during the early stages of Distant Worlds, I was again drunk exploring (drunksploring?) and tried to land on a high G planet. Without shields. I hit the ground much faster than was sensible, but luckily I only took about 30% hull damage. Went through the entire rest of the journey with that chunk of hull missing. It was there as a constant reminder not to be a drunken idiot in charge of a spaceship! It was well over a year before I finally docked back in the bubble and repaired that damage

I wrote off my 'Conda a couple of years back, after an afertoon at the beerhouse.

Took off from a planet, somehow flipped the thing over then kept bouncing it off the planet while wondering why I wasn't going up....then it popped!

It's my biggest insurance claim to date, it makes up 99.99% of my total credit claims!

Oof. I hope you learned a valuable lesson there! :)
