Newcomer / Intro DSS finding ring hotspots but now showing as orange blobs

*title should read *NOT, but i can't seem to edit it

Hi
Been away from the game for a cpl of years, and wanted to do some mining.

Before my hiatus, the DSS would show hotspots as orange blobs, and you could also view them on the left nav panel. Now when I scan a planet, I get hotspots on the nav panel, but not the orange blobs on the rings themselves.

Has something changed, and do I need to enable some extra setting? Tried relogging etc, but nothing doing.

Many thanks in advance

It is an intermittent issue for me - sometimes the orange blobs show, other times they don't. I try changing mode to see if that makes them show when switching back to Analysis - most of the time it doesn't.

The good thing is that the nav marker is still shown on the HUD for the centre of the hotspot - so you can see where it is / they are and so navigate to it / them.

Bit of a pain.

(BTW - just an FYI for completeness: you do need to have a DSS actually fitted for them to show.)

Thanks Fnord, and yes, DSS fitted- used it to scan the rings immediately before the orange blobs don't show up.

OK, at least I know it's a bug, and not something I was doing wrong!

It's a weird bug. I don't know if they are linked to local lighting, at times.
Sometimes they are invisible, sometimes they appear through peripheral vision (i.e. I point elsewhere and suddenly they appear at the edge of my field of view, only to disappear again if I turn towards them).
In any case, they always reappear as solid upon relogging 🤷‍♂️

Thanks, appreciate it! Never had this bug before, weird. Wish FDEV would patch stuff like this sooner than later.

Logging didn't work for me, so I just ued the targeting brackets, no bother

I have a list as long as my arm of long-standing annoying bugs that never get any attention at all. I really can't understand FD's attitude to the players, it is like they only ever pay attention when the player-base as a whole goes into meltdown. The rest of the time they seem to have a "meh, that'll do for now" approach.

Relogging doesn't generally work for me either - when it does cure it, it's usually only for a few seconds at best, so I grab the screenshots when I can and work backwards to try and identify the overlaps (argh).
Almost like another fun mini game, right? Right?
OK, OK, I admit it, it's yet another long-standing bug, and I would not be even a tiny bit surprised to find that it has been reported half a dozen times on that bug tracker thingy, but never ever successfully confirmed*... (Bitter? Huh? Who - me?)
[*That's another fun mini game though...]
