DSS Recognise Discovered Codex Entries

When I probe a planet, could any Codex entries I have discovered be used instead of "Geological" or "Biological"

There is only so many times it is fun to land on a planet to find... "oh, Bark" etc.

Not sure I understand you - do you mean you want it to say Bark Mounds (5), Anemones (3) etc?

I can see the motivation (BM are rather a let down), and it would be good to know if it was worth visiting all 15 of those POI to confirm they are all indeed BM (hint: they probably are :) ).

I think the only one of the Bio that has that effect for me is BM as they are orders of magnitude more common than anything else.

Possibly at the summary (isnt the Summary FSS? in which case, No), but not necessarily, just the list on Nav Panel or POI (Out the Window) would be enough. Instead of :
Geological [1]
Geological [4]
Geological [2]
Geological [....40]

Water Gas Vent [1]
Geological [4] (not specific, because thats not in my Codex yet)
Water Gas Vent [2]

I certainly dont want to make this all about Bio Cherries, just generally make the whole Codex hunting less repetative. You still have to fly out and DSS the body. Just not have to land, then hop between POI (which takes even longer).

Agree with this.

As an alternative, if doing it from orbit is considered 'too easy', make it so that landing and scanning a POI updates all the other POIs of the same type on the planet.

I recently hunted down the last brain tree Codex entry I was missing, the Lindigoticum. It would have certainly been more enjoyable and less frustrating and grindy if I could have identified and avoided all the Roseum ones from the orbit. Even if I had to land and identify one of them before being able to avoid rest of them, it would have been very much worth it.

As an immediate example, the system I have just arrived in has 10 bodies with POI. 8 Bio, 6 Geo. Total number of POIs is in the hundreds, while I am quite sure the chances of there being anything new are virtually 0%.
  • With the large SC distances involved, I could DSS them all in about an 1 Hour (would be a less without the Blue Planet bug).
  • To land at 1 Bio and 1 Geo of each, thats 3 hours(ish).
  • To have a decent chance of detecting all the types, its over 9 hours
  • To visit them all would take.... not going to do it. This is just 1 system.

Agree with this.

That would work too, but I always go with the "simplest to code" option. Much better chance of ever getting accepted.
