DSS Usage

Hey guys heading out into the black soon on a random exploration jaunt having recovered from the Sag A Colonia triangle.

However although I'm now quite proficient with the FSS (and like it) I've not used the DSS before except on planet rings.

I'm trying to figure what's "worth" scanning, so if you'll humour me:

I leap into Frogstar with 7 icy worlds and an HMC. Only one planet "Frogstar B" shows a setylement.

Will I get more cash for scanning everything or only the ones with the settlement?

Does the DSS cost ammo? And if so can I synthesise it? Ie can I map everything to be OCD or do I have to be prudent.

Shall I head to a specific area or shall I let my stepdaughter pick a star and go? 😄

No ammo

Scan value based on body type, I don't think settlements, features etc have any bearing.

You get a bonus for using the estimated no of probes (or less).

You get a bonus for having mapped all bodies in a system.

DSS has infinite probes, the ammo is only to limit how many probes you can have in flight simultaneously. Mapping planets is quicker if you engineer the DSS to increase the radius of the probe scans.
