DW2 and the big backside cutter

I've held off on making my submission for DW2 because I thought i'd have a go grinding my way to the cutter - and we all know that is a damn fine looking ship - even in braile but getting that kind of ship to meet the minimum 40lys for DW2 for me is quite a bit of a jump.

I maybe completly wrong on this but in order to particpate and meet the requirements for such a soujourn if I was in an annaconda, dbx, asp, cutter, I'd still have to stip the ship down to its basic minimum with the highest G5 rolls I could muster?

There's plenty of time before the event and I'd like to participate in the defense / exploration area so any advice would be appreciated. I'd like to go the cutter way (purely for screen-shots mind) but for other ships top ensure I get to where everyone is going and to be there when they get there.

I've looked at the forums and at the ships on trec and I'm deciding on cutter, conder or asp.

Any views/ opinions greatly received as I#ll be grinding the best I can in order to get that minimum ly distance.

As per the first post in the DW II thread; if your ship can jump minimum 33.4Ly, you can make it to BP. It should be fairly easy to outfit most ships to make that range.

I plan on taking an Imperial Cutter myself, and it has a max range of 43.42Ly without any boosts. As you say there's plenty of time to get the rank and the credits for the Imperial Cutter. I recommend you go module shopping in LYR space; my A8 Fuel Scoop had a price tag in Shinrarta Dezhra of ~253mill cr; the price was ~239mill cr. in Ohm City @ LHS 20.

Since you mention defense, I would spend some time in Coriolis doing test outfits to see if you can get a range you're satisfied with. In the end, it's you that has to do all the jumping. However, I'm not sure any defense would be needed on the expedition, since most of the fleet will probably be travelling in the FleetComm pg.

Best advice I can give is to take the ship you enjoy the most for the intended role.

Any chance you could share your set up? On Coriolis the max I'm getting is 23.8 with it pretty much stripped down to the bare bones - so far my mass is 1352 unladen with 1432 laden.

I'm currently searching the forums for cutter loadouts (including the original distant worlds, all 10,000 posts for that thread alone).

Any ideas / advice would be appreciated.

As close as I could get on coriolis. Please note that the SCB substitutes my 5D Shield Generator mounted prior to 3.0.

A few comments on your build: You'd want the biggest possible fuel scoop fitted to minimize scoop time. I use Heavy duty on the Armour since it doesn't add weight on the Lighweight Alloy.

I've been on Coriolis again and I've come up with the following. The loadout meets the minimum requirements for jump range, the range is now 33.12 laden. Link is below

Just got to get the mats now to engineer the crap out of it to match the specs.

No, but don't let me stop you from doing what you want. I'm taking my Vulture, The Ronin after all. #2075 03D-DW o7

Minimum requirements for any ship to make it to Beagle Point as per comment at top of the first post in DW2. Just have some jumponium available and your set regardless.

"Reaching Beagle Point

Beagle Point is where the 'Outbound' journey will end and 'The Voyage Home' stage begins. To reach this star system you will need a ship that can jump a minimum of 33.4 LYs. Commanders thinking of taking short-range ships, please make sure your ship has a range of at least 16.8 LY as a Jumponium level 3 fuel boost will then make Beagle Point attainable."

If you're not going to bring an SLF or two you might consider the Clipper instead.
The Cutter has pretty sluggish SC handling.
You may tire of that bit.

If you do take the Cutter, I'd recommend taking an SLF just for variety.

Yeah I was thinking about taking my Cutter but the supercruise handling is just dreadful. Now I'm thinking about taking my Python and setting it up to be able to refuel ships and repair hulls, a support ship.

Vulture has amazing supercruise handling... Just saying. ;) Not much use for support though, I'm afraid.

Python is actually a bit painful for me to use in comparison in that regard. Kind of ironic, but hey, it does have a rather capable fuel scoop potential to make up for some of it.

Cheers.
