[DW2] The Ongoing Adventures of Galaxy Famous SecretDragon

Note: I will also be posting this on the DW2 Discord's dw2-ed-rpg channel

SecretDragon, recording my adventures as I travel across the galaxy with Distant Worlds 2. As many of you know, I’m a galaxy famous and well renown rogue archaeologist. I’m also a famous actor and musician, I’ve been reviewed in three news magazines on at least three different worlds. An example of those reviews is “good”. I’m also traveling with my group of understudies, who are learning how to be a great explorer as well as a musician and actor. They are some of the best students the galaxy has to offer, I’ve yet to get cold coffee from any one of them!

Today I set off on my adventure after delaying from the launch in order to completely legally acquire Guardian blueprints and schematics to create a Frame Shift Drive Booster. It was, of course, an easy task for me. Anyway, I first made my way out to The View. It was one of the quicker journeys I’ve taken. As I was landing by the tourist beacon there, my throttle had a slight malfunction and my ship was not slowing down in time. Luckily I am an excellent pilot and was able to maneuver so that it was not a destructive landing. My hull dropped to 35%. It’s a good thing I’m such a good pilot, because I had to take only one escape pod with me in order to increase my jump distance to acceptable levels. It would have been quite crammed with me and all my students in there!

This was, of course, a great learning experience for my students. Over the sounds of their screams of joy, they got to see how a true pilot reacts to a dangerous situation. A necessary skill if they are to one day be pilots themselves. One of my students, Shaena Cliffmaker, was crying tears of relief once I had the ship safely landed. In fact, she continued to cry up until the moment the Hull Seals repaired my ship.

And what a great job the Hull Seals have done! My ship is flying better than ever, and I think they even managed to fix what was wrong with my throttle. Now I’m making my way to Thor’s Eye, and after that, the Cinnabar Moth Nebula. Then It’s off to the Omega Nebula to meet up with other pilots! Also when I’m there I’m going to see if I can earn some extra credits by putting on a play at the Omega Mining Station. I’m sure they’d love to hear all about my exploits. Also, they’ll get to see how a true actor can act while wearing a tinted flight helmet. I have to, of course, keep my true identity a secret due to some unsavory liars who wish to ruin my reputation.

That’s all for now, I’m sure my next log will be even more amazing.

SecretDragon, galaxy famous pilot and actor recording yet another log of my adventure. Wow, what an amazing view Labrinto and that Cinnamon Nebula were. Quite amazing. My students were very impressed as I piloted my ship through the canyons of Labrinto. Not too difficult for the galaxy’s best pilot, though. I could have done it with my eyes closed.

Eventually we made it to Omega Mining Station, a day before the community goal of gathering minerals was going to start. I decided that this would be a great time to put on a show. After all once the miners started rolling in, the workers at Omega Mining had to be working hard and often times on overtime. They could have used joy in their life.

We set up a stage in a large common area I found. There I started to perform my own play, The Greatest Pilot. It’s an autobiographical play about my early years and how I became such a great pilot. Unfortunately for me and the workers, an entire performance was not to be! As soon as my students joined me on stage for the first musical number, a tough looking man ran up to us and started yelling “NO! NO! NO! NO SINGING! You can’t be doing this here!”. He glared at the workers who had gathered there, “Get back to work!” he yelled at them.

Then his ire turned to me and my students. “Did anyone give you permission to do this?” he asked. “Yes, the station manager.”. The man’s face went red, “You idiot, I AM THE STATION MANAGER! And I don’t have time to even consider having my workers see a play or to coordinate any of this. Definitely not with the big mining push starting tomorrow. Tear this down, and don’t do it again. Or I’ll ban you from this station.”.

I guess not everyone is a fan of the arts. I did as he asked, because Omega Mining is one of the only station out this far from the Bubble on this side of the galaxy. Getting banned wouldn’t be good, and anyway, I wanted to contribute to the mining initiative.

Mining was a good learning experience for my students. They got to see how a real pilot mines. I also winged up with a few other Commanders, to have someone to talk to other than my students. By the end of the community goal I was in the top seventy five percent. Quite an accomplishment for me considering I like exploring more, and my ship is meant for exploring.

Anyway, my next log will be written once I’m on my way to the next waypoint, most likely a day or two after this Sunday.

SecretDragon, galaxy famous pilot and actor, finally recording another log after a long silence. Why the long silence you ask? Because I was wrongfully imprisoned on the Omega Mining Operation. The Omega Mining corporation wrongfully accused me of stirring up discontent among their workers, and aiding the rebels in the civil war that embroiled the station. I'm innocent of all charges, but famous people like me are easy scapegoats.

Luckily not all of the discontent workers were purged or driven out of the system. Some of them, who had been spies for the rebellion, managed to stay low and remain undiscovered once the war ended. When they realized that I was a Commander and had my own ship, they realized I was their ticket out of Omega Mining. I'm always open to new recruits for my crew and students to take under my wing. It took months of planning, but they managed to free me and my ship. Unfortunately we were discovered during our escape, and things got violent. Some of my students died, but they did not die in vain. And now I have new students.

That was a few days ago. In order to make a quick getaway, I decided to take the neutron highway to Explorers Anchorage. I've made it there for now, and I think I'm far enough away from the evil corporations that are after me. This is a science station after all. A few of the former Omega Mining workers left my crew once we got here. I am now down to just eight students and crew members.

I'm still behind the Distant Worlds expedition by a few way points. I am figuring out if I should take the neutron high way to catch up or if I'll take the less risky but longer way. Super charging my frame shift drive caused quite a bit of stress to it, and even though I'm getting it repaired, I'm not sure if I wanna risk it. I've heard the stories about what can happen to an unstable FSD.

I think I'll write my next log after I catch up to the expedition.
