DW2. Who's got the betting pool?

I think completion rate will be a good chunk less than 50% because by now we have a MASSIVE amount of players who basically just got the game and have no idea of what they're getting themselves into and also are missing out on the most content of the game for 300 days…

During BPE which was my first real long range trip, started after about 1 month playing the game, I got an alt commander because I missed the bubble activities so much. And I think amny of those will feel the same.

Previous major expeditions, generally 50% of signups have actually set off, and about 50% of those setting off have made it to the end.

Even just on that basis, though, that's going to be a couple of thousand people at Beagle Point - twice as many as even signed up for the original DWE, and about twenty times as many as completed some of the other biggest expeditions.

It'll be interesting to see how everything copes with that.

According to Qohen Leth, roughly half made it to BP from DWE1. So 50% predictions are probably right.
One more factor, however, is that many have been there, done that. It is unknown how much of a factor that may play.

It also depends on FD and their timing.
Whilst a lot of us were waiting for Jacques to show up, they kicked off the power play thingy last time. That was on top of releasing the engineers update part way through the expedition (I remember it well because I lost access to a years worth of system maps, including the ones scanned yesterday"....still able to sell the data, but no access to the system info from Gal map... Even today :(. )

This year there's a new paid content to get out the door. ;)

I'm making a bet someone forgets to equip a fuel scoop and has to be rescued by the fuel rats within the first half hour of the mass jump.
Half an hour? Make that five minutes.
I'll freely admit that I did that myself once, though. Went all gung-ho on a long expedition, realised two jumps in I forgot the fuel scoop. Didn't call in anyone for help, mind.

I bet 30% completion rate for dw2 and that servers on the day of the launch will brake like they did on 3.3 release. They'll be ustable for 24-48h

I fully intend to drop out after Sag A*. I've never been there, and while there long journey to Beagle Point and back is just too much for me I feel I should be able to handle that much. So guess I'm not helping those stats!

You should try and make it all the way. I went to Sag A ( before engineering existed ) and decided to come back instead of going all the way to Beagle, and ever since then it's been stuck in my head that I wish I had gone all the way there. Of course now we have Semotus Beacon and Salome's Reach too, which I fully intend to visit while I'm out there.

I bet I'll make it. I'm already 20k out.
assuming it's like last time and you just have to make it to BP in an allotted time...???

EDSM Expedition Progress

Reached vs Visited:
"Visited" means they actually entered the system.
"Reached" means they have visited a waypoint PAST that one. The difference is those who skipped the waypoint.

Omega Sector shows the same number for both because nobody knows what the next one is, so nobody has reach a WP past Omega Sector yet.
The number difference for Pallaeni means some pilots skipped Pallaeni and went straight to Omega sector without passing through Pallaeni.

These numbers only show EDSM users and the expedition only has ~5,307 participants, so the remaining expedition members (6,496) are not EDSM users.
Pallaeni shows 2,301 ships passing through in the last 7 days. 39.4% of 5307 is ~2,091, so most of the ships in Pallaeni recently were there for the expedition.

Expect the numbers to rise at Omega Sector this week as pilots arrive but generally you see a steady drop in percentages for each waypoint.

I would not expect the percentages of EDSM users be representative of non-edsm users generally but these are the only numbers we're likely to have access to.

And some like me who have an account on EDSM but cant be bothered to upload the logs.

You could always run EDDiscovery or EDMC or something, then you wouldn't have to do anything. EDMC is pretty lightweight, if you don't want all of the EDD features.

Thanks for the advice but I have no interests in running any of that. Keep in mind I still think the touch tone phone is the work of the devil. :D
